July Empties (15 items)

Hey everyone,

I am getting later and later with these posts as these months seem to be flying by faster each time. There are so many posts I have wanted to put up recently but I just haven’t gotten round to them yet. The next one that will be going up after this is my Project Pan update #3, as I need to show you guys the starting points for the new products that I said I was adding during the Project Pan update #2 post. I forgot to add the REVLON shadow in ‘Sand’ to my totals during that post, so the 1 item and £2.99 will be added to my final totals in this post.

Decluttered products:

All bar one of the products mentioned in this section were decluttered because they had expired quite a while ago (6 months +), therefore these had to be thrown away to avoid putting harmful bacteria on my skin.

AVON Planet Spa volcanic Iceland warming face mask (£3.99) – This product didn’t do anything for my skin at all, it just got hot. I wouldn’t recommend purchasing this because it just doesn’t do anything for you.

AVON Planet Spa Indulgent spa ritual chocolate face mask (£3.99) – This expired product is marketed as a moisturising face mask. Whilst this did provide a little moisture to the skin it was a very underwhelming product. The only good thing about it was the scent, this really does smell of chocolate and not a fake chocolate scent either. Overall, I would not recommend this.

AVON Planet Spa Caribbean Escape Illuminating body butter (£5.99) – This is supposed to be good for only 12 months and this is at least 3 years old. I just don’t use body butters or lotions. I just hate moisturising my body, I always have. I know I need to but I just hate the process. If you do like body butters though, this is a good one. It gives your skin this shimmer, that’s the illuminating part, it smells really good and it comes really nicely packaged in this jar. I do think this is a good product but I just don’t like using these types of products myself.

Liz Earle Gentle Face Exfoliator (£16.50) – This has a 30 month expiration date which it is probably has 6 months left on. I purchased this because every exfoliator I had used prior to this was far too harsh on my skin. I do agree that it is a gentle exfoliator that does do a good job, but the jojoba beads are what I didn’t like about it. I do like the fact that these aren’t micro-beads but these beads just don’t seem to want to get off my face. I find them everywhere, on my face (even after a deep face wash), on my neck and in my hair! I will not be repurchasing this as I have found cheaper alternatives that I enjoy that are way more hassle free.

Lacoste touch of pink eau de toilette 30ml (£18.00) – When you sniff the bottle of this it smells great but when I actually apply this to my skin it is so strong. I already decluttered the body lotion of this in a previous post because it was even stronger than the perfume. To top it all off this has definitely expired and I will not be repurchasing it.

Empties:

AVON Naturals Coconut and starfruit shower gel (99p) – I loved using this as it has such a light but fresh and tropical scent to it. AVON does so many different scents in its ranges of shower products that I think once you find your favourite ones, you won’t want to purchase from other brands. This one is definitely my favourite one I have tried and I will repurchase this once my collection has diminished a bit more.

NYX Angel Veil primer (£13.00) – This is one of my all time favourite primers. It is in between drugstore and high end pricing but the quality is definitely high end. It makes your skin incredibly smooth, fills in all your pores and keeps your makeup on all day. I will definitely be picking this up again soon.

AVON Naturals winter nourishment vanilla and golden pear shampoo (99p) – This has the perfect warm, fruity, winter scent that lingers on your hair after the wash. I liked to use this every other wash to re hydrate my hair and I will be picking it up again when it re-releases this winter.

No7 Quick Thinking Wipes (£2.00) – These are my favourite makeup remover wipes as most of you know. Therefore, I will continue to repurchase these when ever I have a money off voucher.

TESCO Everyday value 80 cotton wool pads (£1.00) – I always use the ones from Primark but I ran out and didn’t have time to pick any up. I only get other brands when I don’t have those ones so I won’t repurchase these again as a first choice.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream (£13.00) – This was a good everyday moisturiser that hydrated the skin but soaked in quickly, making it easy to apply makeup not long afterwards. However, it has a gel like formula which I don’t particularly enjoy as I have very dry skin. Therefore I will not be repurchasing this product. However, if you have combination/oily skin I would recommend trying this product out.

L’Oreal Preference colour extender (FREE) – This stuff is so good, it really makes your colour look like you only did it a couple days ago. You apply this all over, as you would with hair dye, leave it for 10 minutes and then rinse it all off. I really like that L’Oreal have added this to their hair dye kit for the Preference range, as it makes your colour look better in between treatments.

Liquid blendercleanser sample (FREE) – I got this free from BeautyBay and I am obsessed with how clean this makes my sponges look and feel. After using both the liquid and the solid cleanser from beauty blender, I can conclude that the liquid is better for sponges and the solid is better for brushes. I will definitely be purchasing the full size bottle of this.

L’Oreal Preference high shine conditioner (FREE) – This product has been in many empties posts, and my thoughts are still the same. I love this conditioner. It leaves your hair smooth and silky and it extends the life of your colour.

That concludes my July empties, I hope you guys enjoyed it. This brings the total number of empties to 141 items and a retail value of £589.10.

Until the next time,

Project Pan Update #2

Hey everyone,

This is the second update for my 2017 Project Pan. The products added to the project pan mentioned in this post will have their own post showing the start points and explaining the reasons why I am panning them.

Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in ‘Cricket’:

The Laura Mercier product was in an empties posts so the only product left from this original photo is the Colourpop shadow in ‘Cricket’.

I am having really difficulty using this shadow as during the summer it isn’t really a shade I would use. Therefore, I am going to remove it from my project pan and reintroduce it in the late Autumn/ Winter.

I have decided to replace this with the Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in ‘Glow’. This is a matte cream shade that I personally use to carve under my brows with, because it makes them look cleaner but it is more on the natural side. I find that applying this all over the lid doesn’t work well for me, it just clings to dry patches and almost cracks (even though I moisturise every morning). Therefore, I am looking forward to using this one up. I understand that at $5 this is a very affordable product but I don’t feel that you need to purchase this shade in comparison to all the other beautiful ones Colourpop has. I got this one in the Kathleenlights In the Light quad with my first ever Colourpop order, but I wouldn’t repurchase this shade.

Sleek Contour Kit in ‘Light’ and LA Girl Pro. Conceal Concealer in ‘Porcelain’:

Both of these products are going to remain in my 2017 project pan.

I have done really well on the concealer as evident in the comparison photos above. It is really difficult to tell when I am going to finish this, but it has become more and more difficult to get the product out.

I have decided that I am going to throw out the Sleek Contour Kit in Light once I have hit pan on the contour shade, as it is a very old product. I would repurchase this as I think that it is good quality for the price but I just don’t need it in my collection at the moment. I am hoping to have hit pan on it by the next update in a few months.

MAC Toledo Collection Lipglass in ‘Oxblood’ and Stila Stay all day liquid lipstick in ‘Perla’:

The Maybelline lipstick was in an empties post, so only two products from the original photo remain.

The Stila liquid lipstick mini in the shade ‘Perla’ looks as though no progress has been made but I swear I have used this a lot. I think it is time to give this shade a break for a while and pick it up again in the winter, since it does have more of that mauve edge to it.

The MAC Toledo collection lipglass in ‘Oxblood’ is showing a little progress. I do really enjoy this shade it is just on the older side so this is going to continue to be in my project pan for the remainder of the year.

To replace the Maybelline lipstick and the Stila liquid lipstick I am adding to my project pan the Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in ‘Times Square’ and the NYX Matte lipstick in ‘Natural’.

MAC Eyeshadow in ‘Vanilla’ and REVLON Shadowlink in ‘Sand’:

8fb5134d-1862-42a2-9f12-40b90718291d

The orangey Revlon shade was decluttered in my last Project Pan update, leaving the two remaining shadows.

I have decided to declutter the Revlon ‘Sand’ shade as it is very old and I tried to apply it the other day but it has been reduced to slightly coloured glitter.

The MAC eyeshadow in ‘Vanilla’ will remain in my project pan as it is easy to incorporate into looks. I will not repurchase this once finishing it as I don’t see why anyone should spend £10 on a cream single eyeshadow.

I am going to add the MAC eyeshadows in ‘Jest’ and ‘Sweet Lust’ to bring it back up to three powder shadows again.

I am going to do a post very soon with photos of the starting points for the newly added items.

Until the next time,

Lauren x

Decluttering by brand #2 ~ Kylie Cosmetics, AVON and Soap and Glory

Hey everyone,

This time I am going to be decluttering from my collection of the brands Kylie Cosmetics, AVON and Soap and Glory. I am going to get one of these posts out a week till I run out of brands I own. I decluttered my collection in one go so that is why some things may turn up in empties in the future before they do in these.

Kylie Cosmetics: I knew starting out that this was going to be a brand that I didn’t get rid of a lot from. I really love Kylie’s products, from the shade range to the packaging to the wear time. The only product I am decluttering is the Koko collection matte liquid lipstick in ‘Khol$’. This is a really warm medium nude shade that I just can’t pull off, so this will be going to my best friend since it has only been worn once or twice.

Collection  before decluttering

To use up and not repurchase

To declutter

AVON: This was a more complex brand for me to deal with, mainly because I owned such a wide range of products from them. I chose to declutter 8 items, 1 to use up and not repurchase category and keep 9 items.

I put the matte liquid concealer in the to use up section because it was too drying for my under eyes but I finished it this month so it will now be decluttered. It has a beautiful natural matte finish that if I had oily skin I would probably repurchase this, but unfortunately with my dry skin it doesn’t look that good for long. The Magix powder is only in the to use up category because it is just an okay product, I don’t know if it is because it is a HD powder or what but it isn’t my favourite.

I decluttered the prep + set spray because it was too alcohol smelling and left my skin feeling super tight. The shimmer brick is at least 3 and a half years old and discontinued by the brand. I had a duplicate of the concealer and the used one was getting rather old. The colourtrend lipstick in ‘adorable’ has been discontinued and had a formula I wasn’t impressed with. Finally the shine burst gloss sticks in ‘Nude shine’, ‘Dragon fruit pink’ and ‘Raspberry glaze’ were decluttered as the nude and raspberry shades had glitter in them that made them gritty and the pink shade was just unflattering on me.

The products I decided to keep were a glimmerstick in ‘cosmic brown’, a brow glimmerstick in ‘brunette’, two shine burst lip glosses in ‘Rose splash’ and ‘Berry splash’, two shine burst gloss sticks in ‘Rose’ and ‘Vivid cherry’, a lipstick in ‘Romance’ and a cream concealer. All the products are ones that I really enjoy and will continue to use regularly. My favourite Avon product that I own is probably the shine burst gloss stick in ‘Vivid Cherry’ as it is super hydrating and such as stunning colour, I own nothing else like it and its only £3.50!

Soap and Glory: This was probably the easiest brand for me to do, as I am decluttering both of these products.

The palette only included two shades that could be used for the crease and they were both purples which wouldn’t work for the other neutral shades. Most of the shadows were okay quality but some were gritty with fall out and little pigment. Overall I wasn’t impressed, I hung on to this palette till now for three shades out of the ten only.

The mini gloss in the shade ‘Rose and shine’ is half used up and about 2 and a half years old. I am not a fan of the tingly lip glosses either so this was a simple decision for me.

The figures:

After decluttering a total of 10 items in this post (plus 1 empty that will be included in my June empties total), this brings the total number for my empties to 122 and the retail value to £444.90.

That is it for this second decluttering by brand post, I hope you enjoyed it. Please follow me here on my blog and on Instagram, that is also ‘teenbeautylife’. June empties and declutter by brand #3 should be up around the end of next week.

Until the next time,

May empties (15 items!)

Hey everyone,

Anyone who works in the Finance industry knows that this time of year is chaos. I have been spending four hours a day on a train and the result has been a big decline in blog/ Instagram posts. As well as a zombified Lauren staggering around, looking for the nearest can of Red Bull to drain.

Now that I am based back in Belgravia and the weather has finally picked up, you can count on a lot more blog posts coming soon. Within the next two weeks there should be about 3 posts going up. Some of the ones that are currently in the works are: decluttering my makeup collection by brand, a review on the ILUVSARAHIIxColourpop collection, a project pan update, Kylie lip kit collection review (finally) and more!

Empties:

L’Oreal Preference Color Extender FREE ~ I may have a love hate relationship with the hair dye but my opinion is clear on this product. This really extends the wear of your colour and just revives it. It leaves my hair feeling amazing and it is really quick to use.

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay Re-balancing shampoo 400ml £4.49 ~ This is a great shampoo with a drugstore price tag. I will be repurchasing this for sure. It gets rid of all the oil from your scalp without stripping your hair, it doesn’t dry out the lengths of your hair and it keeps your hair looking good in between washes.

L’Oreal Hydra Genius Aloe Water sample FREE ~ This is aimed at normal to combination skin and I think this would be a great product for those of you with that skin types. However, if you have dry skin like me I would give it a miss as it doesn’t do anything special for our skin type. The formula is a more gel consistency that is lightweight which is typical for products aimed at those skin types. This is a recent release which is now in stores at Boots and Superdrug in the UK.

L’oreal Fine Flowers cleansing wipes (normal to combination skin) £2.65 ~ These did remove my makeup well and didn’t stingy my skin. However, as I have dry skin, these did dry me out a little. It probably has something to do with the very strong floral scent to these. If you are sensitive to that I would avoid but if you aren’t and have the skin type these are aimed at I would try them out.

PS…Love this oval cosmetic pads 90p x2 ~ It wouldn’t be an empties post without these bad boys. These are a necessity in my collection to apply skincare and remove makeup. I will never not repurchase these.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Honey Treasures 1 minute treatment £3.99 ~ This smells amazing which was the first thing that drew me to this line. The fact that it is only a one minute treatment for someone like me who likes to be in and out of the shower quickly. Considering how long the product is on your hair for, it really does condition your hair and the scent clings to the hair nicely. Would definitely recommend picking this up.

Caudalie VINE [ACTIV] Glow Activating Anti-Wrinkle Serum sample FREE ~ This is such a beautiful glowly serum that really brightens up the appearance of your skin. Obviously I am not going to purchase the full size as I don’t need an anti-wrinkle serum but I would definitely check this one out in store if you are looking for one. It gives a nice amount of hydration to the skin and leaves it soft. However, it is an expensive brand so I recommend trying a sample for yourself.

Laura Mercier Oil free tinted moisturiser in ‘cameo’ £34.00 ~ This was one of the product in my project pan 2017, which now means that I have finished 3 of the 10 items in that project! This was in my project pan because this shade was very pink toned for me. I did really enjoy using it but I will be checking for other shades when I go to repurchase it.

Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done hybrid complexion perfector in ‘light’ £28.00 ~ I loved everything about this product, from the formula to the coverage and wear time. However I had to use the Body Shop lightening drops every time I wore this product because the shade range is terrible and this was so dark on me, even though it was the lightest shade. It is a real shame because I really love the product but I won’t be repurchasing. Although, as you can see I did use every drop of product in this as the pump makes it so easy to use it all up. I wish more brands would have this packaging considering the price you pay for it, you want to be able to use it all up.

Kat Von D Lock it foundation sample in ‘light 44’ FREE ~ This is an incredibly full coverage foundation that lasts all day. I really love the formula of this product but I am unsure on the shade for my skin. Some days this would be a perfect shade for me an others it would be too dark. However, because I am so into the formula I will try to find my shade again next time I go to the Kat Von D counter at Debenhams.

Benefit They’re Real mascara FREE ~ This is in my empties because it has dried out and it had started to flake when I wore it on my lashes. I got this free at a Benefit Cosmetics and Marie Claire event last year, and I do really enjoy this product. However, I prefer the Roller lash mascara so I won’t be repurchasing this mascara.

Benefit Ready, Set, Brow! mini FREE ~ This is an amazing brow gel, it just strikes the perfect balance between light formula and strong hold. I will be picking up a full size very soon. I prefer to use this on more natural brow days as there isn’t as much product to keep in place so I don’t need an intense hold. My only complaint with this product is the packaging. Yes it looks super cute, but sometimes it is very difficult to open because of the divots in the lid.

AVON True Colour glimmerstick liquid eyeliner pen £3.50 ~ I think that this is a really good drugstore priced eyeliner. It is pigmented, it lasts all day and there are other shades available. I have been through so many of these so I think I am going to try out some new eyeliners for a while but I do suggest looking into this if you’re on a budget.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear brow gel £16.50 ~ There is no product left in this tube for me to use. I love this brow gel. It sets your brows like concrete, they won’t move all day long. It does smell incredibly strong but that doesn’t linger after it has been applied. I personally don’t mind this but some people do so I thought I would mention that it can get a little solid on your brows. If you don’t like to feel like you’re wearing product on your brow this isn’t for you but I really love this product and will be repurchasing it soon.

That is it for my May empties, I hope you enjoyed it. This brings the total items up to 99, and the retail value to £396.67!

‘What products did you use up in the month of May?’

Until the next time,

Products I broke my no buy for

Hey everyone,

Most of you will know that I put myself on a no buy until I reached my target of 100 empties; with the exception of a few purchases of new releases, limited edition items or massive sales. Even though I knew it wouldn’t be a complete no buy I still feel as though I failed massively. Now that I have reached my target, for details you will have to see my May empties and lipstick sample decluttering post coming soon, I thought I would show you all the products I bought during my ‘no buy’ and tell you a little bit about why I made those purchases and whether I regret them.

Wet ‘n’ Wild Photofocus foundation in Porcelain £15.99 ~ This was the first product that I broke my no buy for. For those wondering, I do live in the UK and therefore have to purchase Wet ‘n’ Wild products off of Amazon. I haven’t owned any products from this brand before as you can’t get it easily. However, I knew I had to get my hands on this foundation after it received a holy grail status in some many peoples’ collections. I picked the shade based on Jeffree Star’s video and its a good match for me. I haven’t used it that much but I do think it lasts on the skin well and has good coverage.

Wet N Wild MegaGlo Contouring palette in Dulce de Leche £9.48 ~ This is a real regret of mine. I thought it looked great online but it is chalky and the contour shade is difficult to blend out on my cheeks. I don’t think I will be using this much.

Colourpop order #1 – £40.29:

Pressed powder duo in Double Play ~ The ‘blush’ in this duo is a bronzer on me but that is why I bought it. I really love this duo. The pigmentation, the shades and the price point make it an incredible product. Congrats Colourpop, another amazing launch.

Ultra Blotted lip in Doozy ~ This is a new formula gives your lips a beautiful tint for summer. Out of the entire collection there were only two shades that I wanted: Doozy and Zuma. At the time I made this order Zuma was out of stock (but as you will see later I got that one too). I love this new product from Colourpop, I think they did a really great job with the colour range and formula; its very unique.

Super Shock cheek in Prenup ~ I have worn this and I like how the shade turned out on my skin. I just regret picking this up because I only did it to match the minimum for free shipping exactly, I didn’t intend to buy it.

This order in total was $30 and the rest was VAT. I made the order at that point in time because the free shipping got reduced from when you spend $50 to $30. Overall I would say that the only one I am not 100% content with having purchased during my no buy is the blush. The other two products I am obsessed with, so 2/3 were good purchases for me.

BH Cosmetics x Carli Bybel original palette £18.00 ~ This finally was released on the BeautyBay website and I had been wanting it since it first released years ago. The release of the new deluxe addition palette is what spurred on this purchase. As the original palette is going to be discontinued! I prefer the size of this palette far more to the deluxe one, so I decided to pick this up before it is gone for good.

Melt Cosmetics order – £71.96:

Digital Dust Highlighter in Stargazer and Gold Ore ~ This was a very expensive order but I had never purchased anything from Melt Cosmetics before. However, this launch took over Instagram and I ended up buying it on the train the day of the launch. Stargazer is my favourite of the two as it gives such a beautiful peachy icy glow, where as gold ore is a true gold better suited to medium + skin tones. It just means I have to apply it very sheer it order to make that particular shade work for my skin tone.

Anastasia Beverly Hills x Nicole Guerriero highlighter palette £39.00 ~ The photo below explains the reasoning behind this purchase. It is so stunning. As soon as I saw it was in stock on the ABH UK website and that there was free shipping, I knew it was meant to be. Every shade is pigmented, the pans are a good size and the packaging is beautiful. Nicole did an amazing job and I highly recommend this palette.

Tarte cosmetics order #1 – £63.60:

Lip facial lip scrub ~ I was so excited for this because it is a lip scrub in a lip crayon form. I have been using this…and I am obsessed. When I run out I will immediately repurchase. If like me you don’t like sticking your fingers in a pot of lip scrub, this is perfect and easy to use. Check it out and I promise you won’t regret it.

Travel size brighter days highlighting moisturiser ~ I wanted the full size of this for so long but it is constantly out of stock, so I picked up the smaller size.

Tarte mother nature’s miracles discovery set ~ This included a mini colour splash lipstick in ‘Island Life’, a 15ml Maracuja oil, a mini lights, camera, lashes mascara, a 30ml Rainforest of the Sea Marine Boosting mist, a 50ml Rainforest of the Sea deep dive cleansing gel, 1 pack of under eye patches and a mini amazonian clay blush in ‘feisty’. These kits are a great way to try out lots of products for a great price.

Tarte cosmetics order #2 – £60.00:

Custom kit – Purple makeup bag, amazonian clay blush in celebrated, gifted mascara, tarteist quick dry matte lip paint in festival, bamboo contour brush, empowered hybrid gel foundation in fair-light neutral and lights, camera, lashes precision longwear liner in black (£50.00 + £10.00 tax) ~ This was far too good a promotion to miss. You got 7 full size products in the kit for £50.00. I love Tarte products and at the time wanted to add more to my collection. This is definitely becoming one of my favourite brands.

Colourpop order #2 – £61.05:

Gemini by Night palette ~ This was the only product that I picked up from the Sonya Esman x Colourpop collection. It has stunning shades and Colourpop’s single shadow formula is incredible with an enormous shade range. The launch of this collection was what prompted this order and I don’t regret purchasing this palette.

Ultra Blotted lip in Zuma ~ This was the shade of the Ultra blotted lip that I was going to purchase in my first Colourpop order but it was sold out then. I am super happy that this restocked because it is such a beautiful shade. Get your hands on it as soon as you can!

Pressed Shadows in Pretty Cruel, Flower boy, Bouquet Toss, Team Captain, Say I do and Too Much ~ When you purchased 3 shadows, they became $3.33 each due to a promotion that was going on. Therefore, I decided to pick up all the shades that were originally in the Valentine’s day collection duos (I didn’t buy that collection) that I wanted and one shade that I don’t own anything like. That singular shade is ‘Team Captain’, its a beautiful khaki green shade. I don’t have any shadows that colour so I bought it to experiment with that tone of shadow.

Free Liquid lip minis in Frick n Frack, Dopey and Strip ~ Yet another great promotion that Colourpop had on at the time, every time your order reached a certain amount you were able to choose a free liquid lip mini. These are all shades that I have really wanted to try out so I am super excited to see what they look like on the lips.

Wet N Wild MegaGlow Highlighting Powder in Precious Petals £11.99 ~ I saw this for sale on Amazon and for the first time it was ridiculously priced (I have seen it for over £60 no joke). This is a super hyped up product, so since it was reduced I thought I would try it. This is such a beautiful highlighter, so I highly recommend you pick it up if it is in stock near you.

MAC Fruity Juicy collection limited edition lipstick in Calm Heat £16.50 ~ Babsbeauty showed this on her Snapchat and I fell in love. It is a truly beautiful nude lipstick and the packaging is gorgeous, this is a purchase I do not regret.

NYX Bright Idea illuminating stick in Pearl Pink Lace £7.50 ~ This was a completely random buy, which made it a regret. The product itself is really nice, I just wish I hadn’t purchased it during my no buy. It gives your cheeks a nice light pink glow and the colour range in the store was really good. This range also includes highlighters and bronzers as well as blushes.

Maybelline Dream Cushion foundation in 01 Natural Ivory £13.99 ~ This was the final product that I purchased during my first ‘no buy’ period and it was because I wanted to try and cushion foundation but didn’t want to pay the high end price tag during the no buy. It was difficult to choose between this and the L’Oreal one but this just had such good reviews and was £1 cheaper at the time. I have used this a few times and I really like it, the coverage is good and it lasts quite well on the skin considering the type of product.

All these products in aggregate come to a disgusting £429.35. With each small purchase, it didn’t feel like it had come to that amount. I am genuinely shocked at how little restraint I have shown. Well my no buy is over and won’t be reinstated (I don’t see the point as it didn’t work). I hope you guys enjoyed this all the same and I look forward to you reading my decluttering and empties posts coming very soon.

Until the next time,

Eyeliner and Mascara declutter

Hey everyone,

I have been watching lots of declutter videos on YouTube lately, my favourites are those by Jessica Braun as she is so brutal, and since my collection has overflown my storage to the point where it is anxiety provoking I thought it was time. I chose these two categories first because I don’t have an emotional attachment to eyeliners or mascaras so it is easier for me to declutter them.

Eyeliners:

Originally, I had 8 eyeliners in my collection. Which considering I only use black liquid liner regularly seems to be an extreme figure.

Before:

IMG_0463.JPG

Firstly, I went through my liquid liners because these are my favourite type of liner to use. I decided to keep all four of them, and this is why. The Too Faced Sketch Marker eyeliners are my favourites, hands down. The shade in ‘Deep Espresso’ is fairly new and its beautifully rich so that had to stay.

My two black liquid liners: Too Faced Sketch Marker and AVON Glimmerstick liquid eyeliner pen, are both nearly done so I need to keep them until I can replace the sketch marker. Therefore, they will both be going soon and I will only be replacing the Too Faced one. I just prefer the formula and pigmentation of it to the AVON on.

Finally, for liquid liners is the NYX Vivid Brights liner in ‘Vivid Violet’. It has a little brush rather than pen applicator and the colour is stunning. Although I don’t get to wear this often and I do notice that if you apply a thick wing with this, the wing itself can crack a little which is a shame but the regular doesn’t so it doesn’t bother me too much.

Moving on to glimmerstick and kohl kajal form eyeliners. I started with 4 in my collection and decided to only keep 1. I am really happy with the progress I made in this section because I only use these occasionally in my waterline/tightline. I decided to keep the AVON glimmerstick in ‘cosmic brown’, it is so creamy and pigmented and the shade is so rich. I love to put this in the waterline with a bronze smokey eye.

Secondly, I decluttered the AVON glimmerstick brights in ‘boldest black’ because it is really old. However, I always have to have a black liner to put in the waterline. Therefore, I replaced it with the Rimmel Scandaleyes waterproof kohl kajal in ‘001 black’ as I love the formula and pigmentation of these.

The other one I decluttered because it is old is the Rimmel Scandaleyes waterproof kohl kajal in ‘005 nude’. I originally purchased this because of the nude liner in the waterline trend and haven’t worn it in a long time since I don’t really like that look on me anymore.

Finally, I decluttered the AVON glimmerstick in ‘smoky grey’. This one absolutely had to go because it had no pigment at all on the waterline. When swatched on your hand it looks great but this shade is invisible on the waterline. Since that was the reason I got it, which was a long time ago, it was time for it to leave my collection.

After (Left: kept, Right: decluttered):

Mascaras:

Also in this category I am starting with 8 items. Unintentionally I swear. I have a lash primer, full size and mini products in my collection, and I really need to declutter this category because mascaras go bad fast.

I have two of the Benefit They’re Real mascaras, one full size and one sample.I don’t like the way the sample applies. I haven’t with any of these I have used, so it was an easy choice to declutter the sample and keep the full size Benefit gave me.

The other Benefit mascara I own is the Roller Lash. There is no way this is leaving my collection as it is my holy grail mascara. It just gives such amazing length and curl to your lashes, unlike anything else I have tried.

Two of the minis that I have are by Smashbox and these are the photofinish lash primer and full exposure mascara. The mascara really did nothing for my lashes. The brush type is horrible and it can’t be used on the lower lashes unless you want it everywhere. For a high end mascara I expected better, so this is going to be decluttered. Where as the lash primer is staying put as it really separates and lengthens the lashes, you do have to add a mascara on top but the product is white but when you do your lashes look incredible.

Final high end mascara is the Too Faced Better than Sex mini in the limited edition purple shade. This came in the NikkieTutorials collaboration and I love this on my lower lashes with a smokey mauve eye makeup look.

The last two mascaras are both drugstore priced. The one that I am keeping is the Rimmel Volume Colourist mascara. This really does tint your lashes as it claims to and gives your lashes a really long yet natural look. My only comment is that it can be a little scratchy against the lash line. I am decluttering the AVON True Colour Wide Awake mascara because it was too natural looking on my lashes, the wand is quite odd as it is a loose two part spiral shape and the formula is completely non waterproof. Trust me you don’t want to cry whilst wearing this, you end up with black smudges and chunks down your face.

After (Left: kept, Right: decluttered):

These will all be included in my empties total as most of them are old products anyway. This brings the total up to 24 items at a retail price of £103.72.

That is it for this post I hope you guys enjoyed it. I feel a lot better when I look at my eyeliners and mascaras now as I know that these are all products I enjoy using and can rely on.If this post has gotten you in the decluttering mood don’t worry, another more random product declutter post will be going up after this soon.

Kylie Cosmetics Review Part 3 (The Burgundy palette)

Hey everyone,

Yes, Part 3 is coming before Part 2 in the series. I know it seems like a crazy order but I had requests on Instagram for this particular review and I am so far behind with my posts that I thought I better write this one now. This post, as mentioned before in part 1, is going to be a review of the Kylie Cosmetics Burgundy palette and tips on how to ensure you get the products you want before they sell out.

Top tips:

  1. Find out the time of the restock/launch for your time zone. Kylie always states her launch times as PST (Pacific standard time) so use google to translate that time to your time zone.
  2. Be on the site at least 5 mins early. Refreshing your page at the time of the launch will give you access to the products instantly and increases your chances of getting them before they sell out.
  3. Create an account before you want to make a purchase. By doing this some of your personal information will already be entered and it will speed up your check out process.
  4. Know what you are going to buy beforehand. This way you can add the items to your cart faster.
  5. Wait in line. As Kylie Cosmetics is a highly popular brand, to prevent the website from crashing there is a screen that will pop up when you click the checkout button. This will put you in a queue and if your product sells out before you can checkout you will be notified. The key here is to be ready to checkout immediately and DON’T REFRESH THE PAGE. As you will lose your place in the queue.
  6. Have your card at hand. That way you can enter your card information faster.

I know none of these tips are anything really new but I follow all of these and I have never had a launch for Kylie Cosmetics, Colourpop or Jeffree Star that I haven’t gotten all the products I wanted.

The review:

The packaging and the price:

This palette has the exact same packaging as the previous one, it is cardboard with a magnetic closing system but the tears are different shades to match the palettes colour scheme. This one also doesn’t have a mirror but Kylie’s holiday collection palette does.

The palette costs $42.00 (approx £34.00) not including shipping and customs. This makes the Kyshadow palette quite expensive. To compare the price to other palettes, the Too Faced Boudoir eyes palette which also has 9 shades is £29.00.

The product:

In this palette you get 9 shades, 4 of which are shimmers and 5 mattes. The shade range makes it easy to make a simple matte eye look or a glam eye. It has been compared to the Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette but I disagree with that. Although the palettes both have the theme of burgundy shades, the modern renaissance palette has a lot more red and pink based shades where as the Kyshadow palette has more purple based shades.

The pigmentation of the shades is amazing for both the mattes and the shimmers. The shade Naked is the only one that I am slightly disappointed in. Not for the reason that I have heard others mention though. I know that Kylie intended it to be less intense than the other shades so it could be used for a brow bone highlight. However, I am very fair so this shade has to be used all over the lid on me because otherwise it looks like a stripe under my brow. Therefore, this palette doesn’t contain any brow bone shades for people with fair skin which is a downside for me.

Swatches:

First row: Left to Right – Naked, Beach and Penny

Second row: Left to Right – LA, Burgundy (forgive the awful swatch) and Dubai

Third row: Left to Right – Brick, New York and Almond

Is it worth it?

Yes, I really like this palette. The shades are pigmented, buttery and blendable. My only issue is as mentioned earlier, there isn’t a brow bone shade in this palette for people with fair skin. However, I know that it would look amazing on people with medium skin tones.

Therefore, if you don’t like dipping into more than one palette for your eye look and are fair skinned this isn’t the palette for you, but I really recommend this palette to anyone who loves fall eye makeup like I do. My favourite shade in the palette is ‘Penny’ because it is such a unique peach with pink in it.

That is the end of this review, I hope you guys enjoyed it. I am hoping to get part 2 up in the next two weeks. Which products are you planning on getting from the holiday collection?

Until the next time,
