June empties – 14 items!

Hey everyone,

I am late with my empties this month, I know. I have had final audit season (still the stress continues), a Christening, a house party etc. Normally the weekend is my only free time to write blog posts and take Instagram photos, but I haven’t even had that recently. June was also my birthday month, I turned 19, which means I spent too much money yet again. It also means that I have to come up with a new name for my blog before I am twenty (it was hard enough to come up with the original name) I am not ready for that.

Anyways you guys waited long enough for this post, so lets get into what I decluttered and what I used up in the month of June.

Decluttered:

Colourpop Super Shock shadow in Sunset Blvd and Wilshire £4.01 each ~ These two shades are from the Kaepop quad, one is a shimmer shade and the other a matte. Both are warm more orange based shades and therefore I will be passing these on to a friend with a more tanned complexion. I did her makeup with these before and the shades are just so easy for her to wear. Therefore I am decluttering these, because of the shades on my fair skin tone and not for a reasoning concerning the products quality.

Empties:

Dior lip glow colour reviver balm £25.00 ~ This was in my first Decluttering by brand post and I did finish it before writing it. Never the less it was finished during June, so it is in this post, but I threw it out before writing this which is why it isn’t in the photos. I am not fond of the colour that PH changing products create on me and this is particularly expensive. Therefore, I will not be repurchasing.

AVON ideal flawless matte liquid concealer in fair £4.00 ~ I already reviewed this in my Decluttering by brand #2 post but I did mention that it would feature here as well, since I did actually finish this product. It has a pretty natural finish and provides good coverage but is just too drying for dry skin, so I will not be repurchasing.

Johnson’s cotton buds £1.00 ~ I use these for cleaning up makeup mistakes mainly. They are especially good for gently getting around the eye area. These are just a staple for any home for various tasks.

Bobbi Brown Hydrating eye cream £33.00 ~ This product lasted me a long time which I am grateful for considering the price. However, out of the three eye creams I have tried this is only my second ranking, the Benefit cosmetics one is still my favourite. Therefore, since this is more expensive I will not be repurchasing it. I believe that eye creams are a really personal preference as you have to consider your skin’s specific needs, and texture is also very important. This was more of a regular cream feel, where as the Benefit one is a little thicker.

AVON Senses anti-stress shower gel £1.00 ~ I cannot accurately describe the scent of this but it is quite warm and spice based. I put my faith in the anti stress claims and it was okay but you could get the same feeling from your favourite sweet scent. As a shower gel it was just as good as the other scents I have tried from AVON, therefore I will stick to my other favourites from the Senses range.

Too Faced Sketch Marker Liquid Art eyeliner in black £17.00 ~ This is my favourite liquid eyeliner ever, it is super precise, pigmented and is super easy to create a wing with. I will definitely be repurchasing this soon.

L’Oreal Lumi Magique pure light primer £10.99 ~ This was my second bottle of this product and I do really enjoy using it but I think it is just a little too overpriced for a drugstore product. I have so many illuminating primers at the moment that I will not be repurchasing currently. However, I may pick this up in the future as it is certainly a good product and loved in the beauty community for a reason. It is often compared to the MAC strobe cream and as someone who has owned both I can tell you that they are similar. However, the L’Oreal one is whiter and a much runnier consistency so it is more of a preference thing as to which you should purchase.

Tarte skincare pack your bags 911 under eye rescue patches £4.29 ~ These are cooling patches that fit comfortable on your under eyes and the only reason I won’t be repurchasing is because I do not get puffy under eyes. However if this is a concern of yours I do recommend these as they are comfortable, hydrating and a good price.

L’Oreal Fine Flowers dry & sensitive cleansing wipes £3.99 ~ I prefer these to the other type of fine flowers wipes I tried previously as it removes all my makeup, and are less scented than the other version. Still nothing has beaten my No7 quick thinking wipes and those I get for £2. However, I would use these again.

P.S… Love this oval cosmetic pads 90p ~ These I use to remove my makeup with micellar water and apply toner after cleansing my skin. These are of a good size and an even better price and I recommend them.

AVON on duty 72hr max protection 6 roll on deodorant 80p ~ This is the best deodorant I have ever used and it is super cheap. I already have two back ups. It doesn’t stain your clothing either, which is quite a common problem with other brands I have tried. Do you prefer roll on or aerosol deodorants?

Elemental herbology purify & soothe facial cleansing balm FREE ~ This product removes makeup well enough, but the smell is stomach churning and lingers after. Normally I am not so blunt in my reviews but I cannot make any excuses for this.

That is it for this month’s empties, I hope you all enjoyed it. This brings the totals to: 126 items at a retail value of £506.66!

Until the next time,

April Empties (21 items!)

Hey everyone!

I could not believe that I used up 21 products this month! Alright most of them are samples but still. The post that will be coming up after this one is called “What I broke my no buy for”. Safe to say that it failed massively within days but I still think it was a good learning experience as not I single product was store bought. I just have no control when it comes to online sales aha. This should have made a little room for those products though.

Decluttered products:

Seventeen Stay Time Foundation in ‘soft ivory’ £6.49 ~ Back in the day I used to swear by this. Before brands started making lighter shades for us pale folk, this was the only foundation that would match me. It was the first full coverage foundation that I ever used, this is my second bottle of it as well but my skin has gotten a lot drier since then and this has a very thick consistency. If you have combination – oily skin and are looking for a super affordable, very full coverage foundation I recommend trying this out if you can find your shade. I just can’t wear this anymore so it had to go.

Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm £5.29 ~ This was hyped up by everyone, including myself, but I can’t use this anymore as my skin is too dry (sensing a theme yet). I think that if you have oily skin you will love this. However, stay away from it if you have dry skin as it will not do you any favours.

Revlon Shadowlink in ‘Melon’ £2.99 ~ This was a shadow from my 2017 project pan. I decided to declutter this shade as I made no progress with it and its very old. This was mentioned in my Project Pan update which if you haven’t seen that, it is the post before this one.

Empties:

Biore Charcoal Pore Strips £9.49 ~ I don’t know where the box for this went but this month I finished another pack of these pore strips. Both my boyfriend and I use these, they are super effective and you can usually get these on sale at Superdrug so they will be cheaper than the price above.

Too Faced Better than Sex mascara mini in purple FREE ~ This came in the Too Faced x NikkieTutorials collab kit. Recently Jeffree Star mentioned on Snapchat that the contract Too Faced made Nikkie sign for this collection was awful, we will probably never know the details but I love Nikkie so I hope it wasn’t that bad. It does make me question whether I want to purchase Too Faced products, what with all the drama around the old owner of the brand as well. Anyways, I loved using this product on my bottom lashes when I had a purple shade smoked on my lower lash line. This is really old now so I have to throw it out but I did really enjoy this and it has made me consider purchasing the original better than sex mascara.

L’Oreal Preference high shine conditioner FREE ~ Now I may have fallen out with my hair dye but my relationship with this conditioner is still holding strong. It just keeps your colour looking good and your hair looking healthy and shiny.

AVON ANEW VITALE day cream sample FREE x2 ~ These were the last two of the samples that I had of this product. I don’t know how many of these samples I have used up and shown in my empties posts, but it must be at least 30. I am still of the opinion that it is just okay; it’s a basic moisturiser with SPF 25 which makes it good for day time. I will not be purchasing the full size as there are products I prefer in my collection.

Maybelline Colorsensational lipstick in 725 Tantalizing Taupe £6.99 ~ Some of you may have seen this in my project pan update but if you haven’t, this is the first product I have finished in my project pan 2017. This is the perfect nude shade for fair skin tones, its great to just throw on as it goes with every look and you don’t have to think about it. I will definitely repurchase this as it is, dare I say it, my favourite drugstore nude lipstick.

Lush Bubblegum lip scrub £5.75 ~ I am tired of trying to love sugar scrubs in a pot. Don’t get me wrong if you are looking for a harsher scrub for your lips to get every bit of dead skin off, then you will probably like this. This is just too harsh on my lips and it becomes uncomfortable, I don’t enjoy sticking my finger in a pot and getting it under my nails and this product in particular goes bad so quickly. Therefore since I am not fond of this form of product and it went off a while ago. It was time for it to leave my collection.

Beauty Blender solid £14.00 ~ Until I made this purchase I was washing my brushes and sponges with hand soap, which did the job but took the colour out of my beauty blender and made the tools smell a little funny. This product makes it so easy to get everything super clean and I don’t have to use as much as I would if I was using the soap. Even if you don’t own a beauty blender, I highly recommend purchasing this to clean your tools as it will save you a lot of time and they will look like new.

Beauty Blender (Original) £16.00 ~ This was the first beauty blender I ever purchased and I used it to death which is why it is in this post. I purchased a new one in the light pink shade which I adore, even though it is basically white with a pink tint now from washing it. It applies liquid and cream products to the face quickly and blends them out flawlessly. I believe that everyone has to at least try these, they are hyped up for a reason.

AVON Senses Joyful Tropics papaya and peach moisturising shower creme £1.00 ~ This is a shower creme that smells exactly like it says it will. This is summer in a bottle, super fruity and more papaya than peach I would say. I really enjoyed this and I will probably pick another bottle up at some point.

Tata Harper Repairative Moisturizer sample FREE ~ I really didn’t like this. The smell was awful and super strong, being a popular and very expensive moisturizer I thought that although I might hate the smell it will do wonders for my skin. Wrong. This product costs £94.00 and it did nothing for my skin. I certainly won’t be purchasing the full size of this.

Lancome Juicy Shaker in 400 ‘Mint to be’ £19.50 ~ This shade applies clear with a very slight blue tint and it makes your teeth look whiter. Essentially this shade is a clear lip oil and therefore is super expensive for what it is. If you are prepared to spend this amount on a lip oil then I say go for it because this is the most hydrating lip product I have ever used. I loved how soft this made my lips. I would apply this when I had been wearing liquid lipstick days in a row and after you would never have known. I just personally can’t bring myself to repurchase it for that price. Although if you wear very minimal makeup and prefer to spend more on skincare products, I think you would love this as a lip oil in your daily routine.

Goldfaden MD Wake up call overnight regenerative facial treatment sample FREE ~ This had a beautiful light citrus scent to it and sunk nicely into the skin. It is for dry and ageing skin and I do recommend you get a sample of this before purchasing as it is £75.00 for 50ml (Ouch!). I do think that if you have that type of skin and you have tried a sample and enjoy it, it could be worth it. I would wait till Space NK does a spend £60 and get £15 off offer (this is online and is done quite a lot) to save yourself some money. Although to be honest you guys its very difficult to give a solid review on skincare based on a sachet.

REN V-Cense Revitalising night cream sample FREE ~ This has a really strong scent as well, I know a lot of products in this post that I haven’t liked is because of this but I honestly don’t know why brands are putting products out with such strong botanical/almost medicinal scents to them. It was a pretty good night cream but this scent lingers and I can’t bear it so I won’t purchase it. I find most REN products have strong scents so I really recommend smelling the products in store before purchase any of them, especially cause they are expensive.

REN Flash Rinse 1 minute facial sample FREE ~ This had such a strong citrus/ fresh orange scent, that’s the first thing I remember about this product. I left my skin feeling good but other than that I didn’t notice enough of a difference for the £32.00 that this product costs. I feel that since the claims on the product are based around lines, fatigue etc you would have to use it over time to actually see a result.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge £5.99 ~ I will always repurchase this sponge, I think its a great alternative to the beauty blender if you don’t want to spend the cash on it. I am currently using the Eco tools sponges instead but I am sure there is room for another of these in my collection as well.

Head & Shoulders smooth and silky shampoo sample FREE ~ I love Head & Shoulders products I just find that my hair reacts really well to it. This shampoo made my hair so shiny and healthy looking that of course I am going to go and buy the full size. I am just going to wait until I have used up some more hair products that I own.

Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre sample FREE ~ I have the full size of this already and I am obsessed with it. It’s super hydrating and a thicker cream consistency which I enjoy. I highly recommend this for those of you with dry or combination skin. Those with dry skin can wear this as a day or night cream where as I think combination skin people would just want to use this at night in my opinion.

That was the final product in my April empties, I know this was a long post but I had a lot of products to talk about this time. The totals are now 84 items with a retail value of £301.74 ! I am so happy that I am only 16 items away from 100 empties already! Will I make it to 100 empties next month…you’ll have to wait to find out.

Until the next time,

Lauren x

March empties (10 items)

Hey guys,

This month I don’t have that many empties as I have been decluttering my collection quite a lot. My latest one is Declutter #2 here on my blog (the previous post), if you want to check it out.

AVON ANEW VITALE day cream sample: FREE ~ Using up these samples has been a process. I now have only a few left to use. As mentioned in my previous empties posts, this is a okay basic moisturiser. I heard this is being discontinued and I won’t purchase it before it does because it just isn’t as good as the full size moisturisers that I already own.

No7 Quick Thinking wipes: £2 ~ These are my favourite makeup remover wipes of all time. The only time that I purchase other wipes are when I need them but don’t have a voucher for the No7 ones. I refuse to pay £7 for a pack of makeup wipes when I can just wait and get them for £2. I really hope Boots starts doing the No7 vouchers soon though because I need a new pack.

Wilkinson Sword Quattro Sparkle disposable razors: £3.86 ~ Although as you will see below I love my Venus and Olay razors, I do like to have a non foaming more traditional razor option. Just as sometimes when those razors are new the foam is a little excessive so I will go in with these. I always purchase these and I will be picking some up soon.

Gillette Venus & Olay razor heads: £11.55 ~ These are my favourite razors that I always repurchase. The fact that it foams when you are using it, removes the need for shaving cream and reduces the risk of razor burn. I love these even though they are expense, although what razors aren’t, and I have already repurchased.

AVON Senses Winter Dreamland Shower gel: £1 ~ This is a limited edition product that AVON brings out every Christmas. It has a raspberry and apple scent, which is warm and very wintery. It does have little beads in it, for what purpose I do not know because they don’t seem to do anything. It was really nice to use in the winter months and I would purchase it again.

Urban Decay Vice lipstick sample in Seismic: FREE ~ This shade has been swatched below (I did build the colour up as it is quite sheer). As I am so pale I find it really difficult to wear dark berry shades, so the fact I can build this up is really appealing to me. I really enjoy the Vice lipsticks as they have lots of different shades and formulas available to suit everyone’s preferences. At £15 each, I think they are absolutely worth the price tag so go and check them out at the Urban Decay counter.

Smashbox Pore Minimising primer sample: £3.75 ~ Pore minimising and smoothing primers are my favourite to use as it gives you a really nice, even canvas to apply your base products on. I am not sure what my thoughts are on this primer to be honest. The consistency is definitely the thickest silicone one I have tried and it can ball up on me sometimes. I think that maybe this is a little too thick for my dry skin but if you have combination/oily skin and large pores you should definitely give this a shot.

L’Oreal Preference hair colour in 5.21: £6 ~ I have a real hate relationship with this hair dye since changing the formula. L’Oreal has discontinued my shade. This is the second time that only my shade of hair dye has been discontinued. Literally only my shade. Therefore, this shade was a different one for me. It was only a little bit lighter but I can tell it isn’t going to last as long.

My biggest issue with this hair dye since the re-formulation, after you wash the product out of your hair and blow dry it, my hair is left looking caked in product. I washed it till the water ran clear and yet when I touched my hair it was all stuck together and sticky. Absolutely appalling. It isn’t just me either, my mum uses this hair as well and it does it too. Safe to say that after I use up my last box I am looking for a new hair dye.

Garnier Micellar Oil-infused cleansing wipes: £3.29 ~ I know I said before that I was done trying out the Garnier wipes as the previous ones really didn’t work for me. However, I bought these as Fleur de Force really likes them. These stink so bad, it stings my eyes and leaves a residue on my skin. These are the worst Garnier wipes I have tried yet, I am not going to try another pack from their range (this time I am serious).

PS…Love this Oval cosmetic pads: 90p ~ These are in nearly every empties and I always repurchase these, they are perfect for applying toner and removing your makeup. I can’t see myself being without these.

That is it for my March empties, I hope you enjoy it. The totals after including this months empties are 63 items at £208.25! I cannot believe how many products I have used up in the first quarter of the year. Be sure to follow my blog and my Instagram, which is also ‘teenbeautylife’, to see what the totals are next month.

Until the next time,

Lauren x

February empties (11 items)

Hey lovelies,

February flew by and has been the month that I did two declutters of my makeup collection (the post on the second one is coming up after this). If you haven’t read the first one, go and check it out to see what I got rid of from my eye liners and mascaras.

Empty 25: Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask (99p) ~ This is the last one that I bought when they were on offer. I am not going to repurchase this because it doesn’t hydrate my skin as much as I want.

Empty 26: Bioderma moisturising make-up removing micelle solution (FREE) ~ This works really well but I see no difference to the original version. I will repurchase the original one and get the two pack as normal (which means you get one for free).

Empty 27: AVON nature apple blossom shower gel (£1.00) ~ This shower gel has been discontinued and I have one other bottle left to use up. It’s okay but I wanted it to be a bit more apple smelling and a little less floral.

Empty 28: Soap & Glory Off your face cleansing cloths (£4.50) ~ I have to get up really early for work so occasionally I just used these before my makeup. They just cleaned my skin enough to where I didn’t feel gross anymore, if that makes sense. I don’t think I will repurchase these but I thought they did an okay job.

Empty 29 & 30: AVON ANEW VITALE day cream samples (FREE) ~ I have around 3 more of these left and I have spoken about these in so many empties post that I won’t again.

Empty 31: P.S…Love this oval cosmetic pads (90p) ~ I just use these for my toner and micellar water, these are the only ones I purchase.

Empty 32: La Roche-Posay Serozinc (£8.50) ~ I love the mister on this and this form of application for toner is interesting. I only won’t repurchase because my skin is more dry than when I purchased this. If you have combination to oily skin I recommend you try this out.

Empty 33: L’Oreal Elnett Satin heat protect styling spray (£5.99) ~ I can’t tell whether this did anything or not. I will not be repurchasing this, but since I style my hair every day I do need to have a heat protection spray. Therefore, I purchased one from REDKEN on my hairdresser’s recommendation instead.

Empty 34: Clinique liquid facial soap mild 50ml (£10.00) ~ This is such a great cleanser that makes your skin feels so clean and refreshed after using it. Whilst it isn’t targeted at blackheads or oil or anything specific it is just a really great basic every day cleanser; and I will definitely be picking up a big bottle after I have used some other cleansers up.

Empty 35: Alpha H Essential Hydration Cream sample (FREE) ~ This is such a lovely cream. It’s texture is really smooth and has a nice consistency that not too thick and not too thin. It really hydrated my dry skin, the scent is quite minty which doesn’t bother me but please do consider that. This product is quite expensive at £35.00 but it comes in a tub with one of those tops that you press and it dispenses product through this hole in the middle. Which I like because its more hygienic than if it was just in a regular tub. Even though it has that price tag I will definitely consider picking it up when I need a new moisturiser.

That is it for my February empties, I hope you all enjoyed it. The totals are 35 empties with a retail value of £135.60!

Until the next time,

Lauren x

January empties – 18 items!

Hey everyone,

One month into the year already, its hard to believe. January has been an action packed month with my second accounting exam, my new commitment of the gym every week and trying out lots of new products that I will be reviewing soon. Without anymore delays lets get into the post…

Unusable items:

  • Japonesque Precision Eyelash definer (£6.50) ~ This was a product designed to separate your eyelashes should mascara make them clumpy. In the photos included in this post, you can see that it has shattered into many pieces. So no surprise that it is being binned. I will not be repurchasing this because it was fiddly to use and didn’t separate my lashes as well as some other lash combs I have tried.
  • Champneys eye lash curlers (£6.50) ~ These were a mess, with the writing almost gone and the bit you curl your lashes with sticking together (no matter how well I clean it). It was clear its time was up. Before they were in this state they worked rather well, but these specific ones are no longer sold. Therefore, I estimated the price for the purpose of this post and purchased the NYX ones (£5) instead. I’m still testing these so I can’t give a review yet.
  • Real Techniques pointed foundation brush (£5.50) and buffing brush (£5.50) (both part of a set so estimated price) ~ These are the two brushes that I decluttered from my collection, as they are from the first set of makeup brushes I got (so they are old) and I never use them. I think that after you have had brushes for so long, they start to harbour bacteria no matter how much you clean them. This made it easy to declutter these, along with the fact that I don’t use flat foundation brushes and I prefer my Sigma F80 as a buffing brush. Therefore, I won’t be repurchasing.

img_0269

Products used up:

  • Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask 99p ~ The more I use this mask, the more my opinion changes. I originally really liked this, believing it was really hydrating. However, this hydration now seems to only be shot term. After I take it off and rub the excess in, it feels very moisturising. However, a few minutes later it feels like I only applied a light moisturiser. I don’t think this is working for me anymore.
  • Toni & Guy cleanse dry shampoo 100ml £2.99 ~ This is the best dry shampoo I have tried yet. It leaves your hair smelling really fresh, adds volume, doesn’t leave a white residue and absorbs a lot of the oil in your hair. Overall, really great product.
  • No7 Quick thinking wipes £2.00 ~ These were in lots of my monthly empties last year and for good reason. They are still my favourite makeup wipes, they don’t sting your eyes and remove all my makeup easily.
  • Head & Shoulders Classic Shampoo 500ml £4.99 ~ I really enjoy this because it leaves my hair feeling so clean and removes all oil from my scalp, without drying out my hair. I will definitely repurchase.
  • AVON Superextend liquid liner in black £3.50 ~ I have used a lot of these eyeliners and it was good for the price, but I am fed up of repurchasing this so often. It drys out so quickly and now I have a new favourite I won’t be repurchasing this.
  • PS…Love this 100 oval cosmetic pads 90p ~ If you don’t know this by now these are the only cotton pads I buy. I don’t know what to say about these other than they are super cheap and work very well.
  • Benefit They’re Real tinted lash primer £18.50 ~ I purchased this when it first came out about a year ago (February 2016) and I ad never tried a lash primer before. Safe to say that with an expiration date of 6 months this needs to go, but I am definitely going to repurchase this very soon. This product is incredible, it makes your lashes so long and wispy. It separates your lashes well, so it never clumps. You can wear it alone or add a mascara on top for super false effect lashes. This is holy grail status to me for sure.
  • NYX HD Finishing pressed powder in 01 translucent £8.00 ~ I preferred this to the loose version as it is more convenient. It sets your skin really nicely and lasts well. It will give you a white cast if you apply too much, so use a light hand. I’m unsure if I am going to repurchase as there are other pressed powders I want to try. However, I will probably pick it up in the future.
  • Smashbox photo-finish primer water 5ml £3.75 ~ I got this in a 4 for £15 sample offer from Boots and was quite impressed. I not only enjoy using this as a makeup setting spray and refresher but I find that it works great in combination with other primers as a base. The mister on this is good and I will definitely repurchase this.
  • Body Shop Glazed Apple shower gel 250ml £2.50 ~ This was brought out Christmas 2015 I believe and I love the scent of this. It has a warm candy apple scent that is perfect for winter. I purchased a mini and another full size during the Christmas sale this year just past because I enjoyed it so much.
  • Jordana Best Lash Extreme volumizing mascara £6.41 ~ This mascara was good for both length and volume. It was a little clumpy sometimes but not too bad. The formula is very wet, so if you don’t like that in a mascara then steer clear. If you are in the UK and want this you can this cheap on Amazon.
  • EOS Lemon Drop lip balm £5.95 ~ This is the last EOS lip balm in my collection. I really liked the smell of the one because I am obsessed with lemon but it was only okay as a lip balm. I find them difficult to store and a little expensive for what they are. Therefore, I won’t be repurchasing.
  • Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre sample FREE ~ I already have the full size of this and received this sample with a Cult Beauty order. I love this moisturiser so much because it is slightly thicker than a regular day cream but it absorbs quickly. The full size comes in a tube so you can get every bit of product out. I will definitely repurchase when I run out.
  • REN Flash Hydro- Boost sample FREE ~ I only got 2-3 uses out of this sample and at £34.00 for the full size, I don’t know if I will purchase it. To use this you apply to cleansed skin, then wet your hands and rub into the skin to add hydration. Afterwards you add your moisturiser as usual. It definitely left my skin extra hydrated and smooth and it is a product more geared towards some with my skin type (dry). However, it has a really weird scent. I don’t know how to describe other than it is very masculine. I can’t say at this moment whether I am going to purchase it or not but if I do I will let you guys know.

That is it for my empties in the month of January, totalling 18 items at £84.48. In my project pan 2017 post I mentioned that my overall empties aim meant I had to use up an average of 21 items a month; I didn’t reach that this month which is a shame but I wasn’t that far off.

As always thank you for reading this post. If you have any post requests please leave them in the comment section below and don’t forgot to follow my blog and like this post before you leave.

Until the next time,

Lauren

Project Pan 2017

Hey everyone,

Happy 2017, I hope it is going well for you. 2016 was full of amazing makeup releases, major life events and many posts on my blog that I hope inspired at least one of you. With series such as monthly empties and #Raisetheroof, which will be continued this year, my blog became very much focused on using products up and getting the most for your money. With the amount of support I have received from all of you, I intend to create some very exciting content this year.

Main targets:

Before I get into the specifics of this post, I want to lay out my main aims for 2017 in relation to not only my project pan/empties but my Instagram and blog as a whole.

Last year, I reached 100 followers on my blog and approx 660 Instagram followers. This year I want to reach 250 blog followers and 1000 Instagram followers. Also, I want to post an average of once every 3 weeks. I know this seems low but I am up to my neck in work and accounting exams, so I deem this to be realistic.

Project pan targets:

Whilst I love to collect makeup, and that isn’t going to change, I believe it is important to use items up so as you aren’t hoarding expired products.

In 2016 I managed to reach 172 items with a retail value of £691.19. This year I want to reach 250 empties, which would be an average of 21 items a month!

Project pan items:

  • MAC eyeshadow in ‘vanilla’
  • Revlon Colorstay Shadowlinks in ‘Sand’
  • Revlon Colorstay Shadowlinks in ‘Melon’
  • Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturiser in ‘Cameo’
  • LA Girl Pro.conceal in ‘porcelain’
  • Maybelline lipstick in ‘tantalizing taupe’
  • MAC Toledo collection lipglass in ‘Oxblood’

December empties (5 items and decluttering)

Hey everyone,

I hope you all had a great Christmas/ holiday season and are looking forward to what 2017 holds. As you will see below this month has had the lowest total number of items used up all year. I’ve have an issue with my eye that is preventing me from wearing eye makeup and have been so busy that I haven’t worn makeup much at all this month. Never the less, I am looking forward to setting myself ambitious goals for my blog for during 2017, which I will unveil in a post coming soon named ‘Project pan 2017’.

Empties:

Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder in 001 transparent (£3.99) – This is one of my favourite pressed powders from the drugstore and I already had a backup waiting in anticipation. I can’t really say anything that either myself or a million other people on the internet haven’t before about this product. Just seriously if you haven’t tried it out already, you need to.

Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask (99p) – I don’t have any new insights to mention about this product, so for a more in-depth look please read my November empties. In short it is the only sheet mask I have ever tried so please recommend some in the comments below, and it does a good job considering it is 99p per sheet.

AVON Magix compact smoothing primer (£7.00) – This was an unusual primer for me as it was a primer in compact form rather than tube or with a pump. However, the texture and the effect it had on the skin were similar to that of many smoothing primers except the product was thicker. It blended out to be colourless and worked well against its claims. However, I really didn’t enjoy digging my finger into the pan with every use and it didn’t apply well with a brush. If you have acrylic nails be warned this is not for you. Since, the product didn’t wow me I will not repurchase as the compact form isn’t for me.

Benefit Cosmetics Precisely, My Brow Pencil in shade 3 (£18.50) – I purchased this in shade 3 because I wanted a product to use when the colour was fading from my hair and I needed something more warm toned. I have loved this product so much that I went out and bought it again the day after I finished. The packaging looks amazing; it is perfect for travel as it has a spoolie (forgive me if that is spelt wrong) on the other end, making it very convenient. I can’t fault this product, so if you haven’t checked out the Benefit Cosmetics brow product line please do. There are lots of different products suited to everybody’s brow preference and shade.

L’Oreal Preference premium colour in 4.01 natural dark brown (£6.99) – This has been in my monthly empties for ages now and this is the first time it has ever let me down. I believe it is due to the fact that they changed the formula of it as it didn’t contain the little oil to mix in with it. Whatever it was I couldn’t get it all out of my hair for 3 washes, it made my hair crunchy, greasy and big clumps were stuck together (yes I washed it well past the point it ran clear). I am really disappointed that this happened and hope I just got a bad bottle, but I will keep you updated on this issue.

That is it for my 2016 empties, I know that my empties posts are the most popular on my blog and Instagram so I will definitely be stepping it up for 2017. Are you ready for the final totals?  The total empties for 2016 are 172 items, which would all retail for a total of £691.19!!!!

Decluttering my nail varnish collection:

After working for the past four months in London I have found I have much less time to write on my blog, post on my Instagram and yes paint my nails. Therefore, I deemed it a little mad to keep 16 bottles (not including base coats etc) sitting on my acrylic rack collecting dust. Therefore, I decided to declutter 1/2 of my collection (8/16). These nail varnishes will be offered to my mum and friends before I throw them away to avoid unnecessary waste.

The nail varnishes that I am decluttering are all by AVON but that isn’t strange considering all but 2 nail varnishes in my collection are from the brand. From left to right I am decluttering the AVON nail varnishes in: Crystalized pink (Stardust), Rose Flash (Colour Attract), Desire, Coral Reef, Siberia (Gel Finish), Ocean Blue, Sea Breeze and Turquoise (Mineral Crush).

I decluttered the shades crystalized pink and desire because I had a least one other shade in my collection that were exactly like them. The shades coral reef, rose flash and turquoise were colours that just didn’t suit me at all. Where as ocean blue, sea breeze and Siberia applied very streaky and opacity couldn’t even be achieved with two coats.

As my final post of 2016 I want to thank all of you for reading my posts and following me. If you have any posts that you want to see in the New Year, please do let me know in the comments.

Until the next time,

Lauren x
