Project Pan Update 1

I bet you all thought I had forgotten about this post. Well it has finally arrived; my first update on the project pan items I selected at the beginning of the year. I started 2017 by choosing 10 products that I wanted to finish/hit pan on and in conjunction with my empties and decluttering posts and my current no buy (which failed 8 days in), I truly believe that this year is going to result in a much more organised and manageable makeup collection.

Lets start with the three single powder eyeshadows.

As you can see I have made quite good progress in this area. The first thing you will have noticed between the before and after photo is that I have hit pan on MAC Vanilla. This took so long. I never realised how much product you get in a MAC eyeshadow. My aim by the next update is to have used most of it, if not all of it, up. As it is a basic whitish bone shade I feel it is an essential eyeshadow but I don’t believe that you need to spend £10 on this shade.

When I started my 2017 project pan, the Revlon Shadowlink in Sand was already showing pan. This has expanded quite a bit, which I am super happy about. I generally use this shade as an inner corner highlight or all over the lid. I love these light champagne shades its just that this one is really old and the glitter is a little chunky for my current tastes. This is one that I am hoping to finish up by next time.

Disappointingly, I have made no progress on the Revlon Shadowlink in Melon. As it is so old and I haven’t even used it in the past 4 months, I am going to declutter this eyeshadow. I don’t like to declutter products that are this unused but I have had it for so long and I just don’t envision myself using it in the future.

I am loving using the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser in Cameo, as the coverage is perfect for everyday wear. I have no doubt that I will repurchase this but I think next time I will try another shade as it is a little pink for my taste. By the next update I am pretty sure this will be used up. The Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Cricket, is another story. A little progress can be seen, however I am finding it extremely difficult to get use out of this shade since it isn’t exactly office appropriate. Nevertheless I love the product so I don’t mind it sitting in my collection a while longer.

The only real progress that has been made with these is the Maybelline Colorsensational lipstick in 725 Tantalizing Taupe, that has been officially used up. This was one of my favourite drugstore lipsticks which I have no doubt I will repurchase. The other two products don’t appear to have changed much, but I am hoping by the next update that things will be different. Although I highly doubt that there will be another finished lip product by the next update, one can always hope.

Something I have discovered over the past couple of months is that the LA Girl Pro Conceal is never ending. I used this for a period of time everyday and there is no difference. The Sleek contour kit in light is doing well; I still couldn’t hit pan on the contour side. You can see the dip in it but I have no idea how long it will take to use it up.

That is it. I hope you enjoyed this post. Please follow my blog and Instagram if you haven’t already. I am going to be doing monthly updates from now on if you want to see what progress I make on these items. I haven’t decided yet when I am going to add items to my project pan or what those will be or how many, so please stay tuned for that.

The decluttered shadow and the used up lipstick means that there are only 8 products in my project pan now. These two items will be mentioned more in depth in my April empties which will be posted in the first week of May.

Until the next time,

Declutter #2 (MAC, Colourpop, Benefit and more)

Hey guys!

This was yet another attempt to reduce the clutter in my collection, not that it made much of a dent. My last declutter was focused on mascaras and eyeliners, where as this is a group of more random products.

The thing that started this off was decluttering inside my Z palette. My zebra print Z palette contains all my depotted products that I am trying to finish/ get more use out of and my MAC pigments that I pressed myself. Below is a picture of before and after I decluttered and there is a big difference. The only difference between now and the after picture is that I put my two single Revlon shadows from my project pan in there as well.

The only products that I will be counting in my empties items/pricing are the MAC eyeshadows and the Revlon eyeshadow, the rest won’t be. The two MAC eye shadows I am decluttering are “Da Bling” because I never wear that shade of pink on my eyes anymore, and “Retrospeck” as it has a greenish undertone that I can’t pull off. MAC eyeshadows in the pro pan form are £10 each.

The other two random shadows from the palette I am getting rid of are one from House of Colour (the light pink one) as I already have shades like this I prefer; and the Revlon Shadowlink in dark brown (£2.99) as it is super old and doesn’t get used.

The 4 other shadows are all from a Collection eyeshadow palette that retailed for £3.99 total and I depotted the shadows a while ago (that’s why I am not including the 4 in the total). I decided to keep my two favourite shades from the palette and declutter the rest. It was an okay neutral palette but some of the shades weren’t very pigmented and nothing drew me to it.

The final thing I decluttered from my Z palette was the Benefit blush in ‘Coralista’. This shade of blush generally doesn’t suit me and it is very similar to Milani Luminoso. Therefore I didn’t need this as well. All the depotted Benefit cheek products are from a set I got for Christmas, the packaging was just too bulky and I get more use out of it now its in a Z palette.

Lacoste touch of pink body lotion 100ml (FREE) ~ I got this in a set with the perfume and the body lotion is just far too strong for me. It actually smells stronger than the perfume itself. For that reason it was just sitting in my draw, so it was time to declutter that.

Urban Decay Nirvana empty palette (£8.50) ~I only have two urban decay eyeshadows and the packaging on the spine was giving out a bit. Safe the say I wasn’t impressed with the palette. The two eyeshadows that were in the palette I placed into my large black Z palette.

IMG_0663

MaxFactor Green CC stick (£9.99) ~ I don’t have time on an everyday basis to colour correct. Since this is only one colour, I will be decluttering it because when I do colour correct I have a kit by Sleek that I love to use instead.

PS…Angled Brow brush (£1.00) ~ This brush just got so gross from being used everyday. The spoolie on the end is now bent and the brush just isn’t up to it anymore. I have two on back up cause I love this brush so much. I use it for my brow pomades and it just applies the product so precisely. The spoolie also means that it is the only brush that I have to use to complete my brows.

MAC lipsticks:

  • Viva Glam V (£15.50)
  • Viva Glam VI (£15.50)
  • Fabby (£15.50)
  • Sweet and Sour (£15.50)
  • Real Redhead (£15.50) (LE)

When I was looking at my MAC lipsticks I decided to go through and check that they all still smelt good and that they didn’t have mould on them. Which seems to be more common in MAC lipsticks for some reason. I have never had this issue until now but the two Viva Glam lipsticks and the Limited edition one did have mould on them near the base. The other two I decluttered because Fabby was really old and I never used it as it had quite a frosty finish. The second one, Sweet and Sour, only had a little product left in it and since I only use it in the summer time there was no point keeping it till then. All of these will go back to MAC at some point (3 already have).

AVON loose pigments in “brown” and “pink” (£3.50 each) ~ The pink shade was far too iridescent for my taste in eye looks and even for highlighting my cheek bones. The packaging doesn’t have a sieve either, it just has a whole in the middle which means you have to tip it into the lid and then try and put the remainder back. Due to this I never use the brown one as it isn’t worth the hassle for a regular brown shade.

Halved my pigment collection

Colourpop Super Shock shadow in “Kathleenlights” $5 (£4.01 approx) ~ This shadow I gave to my best friend as the colour really doesn’t suit me. Its a stunning eyeshadow with a smooth formula so I didn’t want to waste it. So I had to pass it along to my friend as I love Colourpop Super Shock shadows so much and I knew she would too.

Colourpop ultra satin lip in ‘Littletitous’ $6 (£4.79 approx) ~ This looks like a beautiful pinky nude in the tube but as it dries on your lips it becomes a brighter, and brighter pink. I got my mum to try it and it happened to her too (not as much as me but similar). The results can be seen below. The picture isn’t that great but you can see that her lips are darker than the tube, it looks as though she lined her lips with a dark pink lip pencil as well (she didn’t, that is the shade getting darker still!).

Benefit dew the hoola mini (FREE) ~ This came in a magazine quite a while ago and I was so excited for it. I don’t like to give super negative reviews but this was terrible. It was completely orange and didn’t last long on the skin. I definitely wouldn’t pay the money for the full size.

Benefit Benetint mini (FREE) ~ I have the full size of this product and I just don’t use it enough to justify having two. Therefore, I thought it best to just declutter the mini of it.

That’s it for this declutter post, I hope you guys enjoyed it. I know I haven’t done a project pan update but to be honest there is only one product I have made visible progress on. I will also not be doing a February, March or April beauty haul as I just don’t have the time at the moment. Those post will be back in May though. Don’t worry about the empties posts though, these will continue as normal.

The empties items are now up to 53. Bringing the retail value up to £175.90!

Until the next time,

Mac Toledo Collection

my purchases

my purchases

This collection included 3 blush ombres, 6 lipsticks, 6 lipglasses, a makeup bag, a brush, 3 nail varnishes, 3 eye shadow palettes, 3 eyeliners and 3 mascaras.

Packaging:

Blush Ombres

Blush Ombres

Blush ombres

Blush ombres

Lipglasses

Lipglass

This has great artistic packaging which really portrays the nature of this collection. The blush ombres have magnetic closing which I really like. It feels safer to have it on this product because after all you don’t want a limited edition blush to smash.

Price:

The blush ombres were £25 each and the Lipglass was £17. I didn’t feel to bad paying that price because M.A.Cs dazzleglasses are £17.50 and they are part of the permanent collection. Also, the mineralize blushes, which are permanent as well are only £4 cheaper at £21.

Product:

Lipglass in oxblood

Lipglass in oxblood

I purchased the Lipglass in the shade Oxblood. (This is still in stock). I really wanted the Oxblood lipstick to go with it but it sold out within minutes on the Debenhams site. This Lipglass applies smoothly and lasts for hours. I love this shade I can see myself using this up so quickly.

imageLeft: Azalea Blossom, Right: Ripe Peach

I believe that M.A.C did a collection last year that included blush ombres. So of course I knew they would be really popular. So I purchased Azalea Blossom and Ripe Peach. They both look gorgeous. However, I wasn’t originally very happy with them due to the film over the top of the product. Anyone who has purchased these will know what I am talking about. There is a layer over the top of both blushes that results in poor pigmentation. It originally gave me no colour pay off and I was very disappointed. Once the film is broken though the shades of these blushes are beautiful.

Beauty Haul/ First impressions

I went a bit mad yesterday when I went to Boots, Superdrug and Debenhams. So I thought this was a good time to do a beauty haul post to give you my first impressions on each product. By the end of this post you will all realise why I am going on a ban from buying any lipsticks this September.

Blanx white shock toothpaste

Blanx white shock toothpaste

I get staining on my teeth easily and if you share this same problem then you probably search the shelves for the best whitening products around as I do. I have used this product only a few times now and already I see a difference. This toothpaste naturally whitens, still works as a normal toothpaste which protects your teeth and removes bacteria and doesn’t contain peroxide. If this product continues to improve and maintain my teeth then I will surely repurchase.

Wonder'full mascara by Rimmel London

Wonder’full mascara by Rimmel London

This mascara has been constantly advertised and raved about due to it containing Argan oil. This aims to be kinder to your lashes and have conditioning qualities. This mascara lengthens and separates lashes well. I will only be to tell if I really like this mascara by using it more. What did you think of it?

Revlon lip butter in Juicy Papaya

Revlon lip butter in Juicy Papaya

I already own one of these, which you will know if you have read the post previous to this. I have been loving wearing an orange lip lately so of course I had to have this. This product gives the colour of a lipstick and the mosturises like a lip balm.

Maybelline colorsensational lip liner in 132 sweet pink

Maybelline colorsensational lip liner in 132 sweet pink

Many of the lip products I own are a nude or a pink, this liner is suitable for both. These liners last a long time so I think I will be using this a lot in the next few months.

Rimmel London Glam'eyes liquid liner

Rimmel London Glam’eyes liquid liner

This is a repurchase due to my last one drying out. This is a liner that glides on and the applicator is precise. I cannot fault this so until I can find a better one this will be repurchased over and over again.

Revlon super lustrous lipstick 025 skyline pink and 001 nude attitude

Revlon super lustrous lipstick 025 skyline pink and 001 nude attitude

As you are probably beginning to notice I love Revlon lip products. Sky line pink is the incredibly pale swatch in the bottom right photo. Nude attitude is my first matte lipstick. These lipsticks colour lasts ages. Again these are £7.99.

Mayvelline ColorElixir 720 Nude Illusion

Maybelline ColorElixir 720 Nude Illusion

This is a brand new product so therefore I had to try it out. This gloss looks great over the Revlon lipstick in nude attitude. The applicator for this gloss allows for even application over the lips. Needless to say I will properly get this in more colours.

Mac Studio fix fluid foundation in NW10

Mac Studio fix fluid foundation in NW10

My final three products are high end ones from Debenhams. For years I have been trying to find my perfect shade with little success. Until I got matched at the Mac counter the other day. This foundation is great in every way apart from one. It doesn’t have a pump which makes application harder and means you are more likely to waste product.

YSL Rouge Voulpte lipsticks in Lingerie pink and Peach passion

YSL Rouge Voulpte lipsticks in Lingerie pink and Peach passion

These are the best lipsticks of all time and I will stand by that. I was only going to purchase one but Debenhams have an offer on at the moment. Which means if you spend £50 or more on beauty and fragrance you get £10 back in points on your Debenhams beauty card at the end of September. So naturally I saw the opportunity to get more than one. These lipsticks are opaque and therefore you only need to apply one layer. The formula makes them mosturising and they smell fruity as well.

Safe to say that I need to have a spending ban on lipsticks for the rest of the month.

Until the next time

August Favourites (sorry it is late)

I only have a few favourites from August, due to the fact I have only recently been shopping.

Triple active day mosturiser, Revlon lip butters and Mac fix + spray

Triple active day mosturiser, Revlon lip butters and Mac fix + spray

The L’Oreal triple active day mosturiser is one I have not strayed from since I picked it at random from the shelves. It hydrates the skin due to its deeply moisturising qualities. I have dry and sensitive skin which is exactly the skin type this product is targeted towards.

The next two are Revlon lip butters in Juicy papaya and Pink Lemonade. These have it all. Moisturising properties and lasting colour. These are £7.99 from places such as Boots and Superdrug. So these products are worth far more than there price.

Finally, the MAC Fix + spray is a product I cannot live without. This multi-purpose product sets your makeup keeping it on all day. Plus, if applied to your eye shadow brush, it can make eye shadow more pigmented so you can use less of the product from the same effect.

My Mac Pro palette!

20140626-190533-68733510.jpg

Whilst I am a self proclaimed makeup addict, I don’t believe that you should spend a fortune when there are plenty of drugstore dupes available.
However, the fact that you could have a palette specifically tailored to your taste captured my attention. For once I wouldn’t have that one eye shadow left in a palette in the corner of my collection.
The first colour, the light pink, is called sweet lust. It is a great colour for all over the lid as a simple natural look. There is a little shimmer in the colour so you can use it in a more dramatic eye look as well.
The second bolder pink is called Pink Venus. This also has shimmer included which means it is perfect to pair with sweet lust in a eye look.
Honey lust is the bronzed coppery toned lighter brown. It is a warmer toned brown that is perfect for late summer and autumn.
Finally, the deep matte brown is the constantly raved about Satin Taupe. I use this all the time for my outer corner and crease. This colour completes nearly every look.
All these colours are really pigmented and last all day. I told myself that I wouldn’t need anymore than 4 eyeshadows and would replace them with different shades when I hit pan.
Clearly now I am going to have to buy the 15 palette.
You can buy the eyeshadow inserts online at the mac store here for .com and here for .co.uk
Debenhams is where I buy all my mac products. So here is the link for the Debenhams site.
I hope you enjoyed this post and I am now taking requests for posts you want me to make. Leave your suggestions in the comments below.
Thanks again teen beauts x
