Project Pan Update 1

I bet you all thought I had forgotten about this post. Well it has finally arrived; my first update on the project pan items I selected at the beginning of the year. I started 2017 by choosing 10 products that I wanted to finish/hit pan on and in conjunction with my empties and decluttering posts and my current no buy (which failed 8 days in), I truly believe that this year is going to result in a much more organised and manageable makeup collection.

Lets start with the three single powder eyeshadows.

As you can see I have made quite good progress in this area. The first thing you will have noticed between the before and after photo is that I have hit pan on MAC Vanilla. This took so long. I never realised how much product you get in a MAC eyeshadow. My aim by the next update is to have used most of it, if not all of it, up. As it is a basic whitish bone shade I feel it is an essential eyeshadow but I don’t believe that you need to spend £10 on this shade.

When I started my 2017 project pan, the Revlon Shadowlink in Sand was already showing pan. This has expanded quite a bit, which I am super happy about. I generally use this shade as an inner corner highlight or all over the lid. I love these light champagne shades its just that this one is really old and the glitter is a little chunky for my current tastes. This is one that I am hoping to finish up by next time.

Disappointingly, I have made no progress on the Revlon Shadowlink in Melon. As it is so old and I haven’t even used it in the past 4 months, I am going to declutter this eyeshadow. I don’t like to declutter products that are this unused but I have had it for so long and I just don’t envision myself using it in the future.

I am loving using the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser in Cameo, as the coverage is perfect for everyday wear. I have no doubt that I will repurchase this but I think next time I will try another shade as it is a little pink for my taste. By the next update I am pretty sure this will be used up. The Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Cricket, is another story. A little progress can be seen, however I am finding it extremely difficult to get use out of this shade since it isn’t exactly office appropriate. Nevertheless I love the product so I don’t mind it sitting in my collection a while longer.

The only real progress that has been made with these is the Maybelline Colorsensational lipstick in 725 Tantalizing Taupe, that has been officially used up. This was one of my favourite drugstore lipsticks which I have no doubt I will repurchase. The other two products don’t appear to have changed much, but I am hoping by the next update that things will be different. Although I highly doubt that there will be another finished lip product by the next update, one can always hope.

Something I have discovered over the past couple of months is that the LA Girl Pro Conceal is never ending. I used this for a period of time everyday and there is no difference. The Sleek contour kit in light is doing well; I still couldn’t hit pan on the contour side. You can see the dip in it but I have no idea how long it will take to use it up.

That is it. I hope you enjoyed this post. Please follow my blog and Instagram if you haven’t already. I am going to be doing monthly updates from now on if you want to see what progress I make on these items. I haven’t decided yet when I am going to add items to my project pan or what those will be or how many, so please stay tuned for that.

The decluttered shadow and the used up lipstick means that there are only 8 products in my project pan now. These two items will be mentioned more in depth in my April empties which will be posted in the first week of May.

Until the next time,

Lauren x

July empties part 2 (9 items)

Hey everyone,

This is part 2 of my July empties, yet again I had to do two separate posts because of how many items I had to tell you guys about. I hope you enjoy reading what the hits and misses of my empties were this month and if you did please follow me to keep seeing these monthly empties posts.

Gillette Venus & Olay 3 razor heads pack (£11.55): These are my favourite razors to use at the moment. It foams up a bit so I find it reduces the amount of shaving rash I get on my sensitive skin. It removes all hair really easily and makes the whole process quicker.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipstick sample in Red Carpet Red (FREE): This was the other shade that I received with my hot lips purchase. It was such a beautiful classic red shade and although it was matte it was incredibly creamy and not drying at all. Safe to say I am obsessed with all the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks I have tried so far. If I didn’t own so many reds currently I would go out and purchase this.

NYX HD concealer in shade 01 (£5.50): I think this is such a great drugstore concealer. For the price you get great coverage, a good range of shades, a good doe foot applicator and its cruelty free. I like the shade 02 for under my eyes but 01 is good for a natural under eye and blemish concealing. I will be sure to pick another up after I finish the other shade I own.

Benefit it’s potent! eye cream (£25.50): I left none of this product in the jar as you can tell. This was a really great eye cream as it hydrated my under eye area and ensured that my skin was smooth enough so as my concealer wouldn’t stick to dry areas. However, I won’t be repurchasing at the moment because I am trying out other products.

MAC lipstick in Japanese Maple (£15.50): This was the second MAC lipstick I ever owned so I knew it was time to use the product up. I even depotted part of it into my Z palette before inserting the intact bullet back into the tube. This shade is the perfect everyday nude shade for people with fair skin and I am sad to this go. However, when I have enough products for ‘Back to MAC’ this is a strong contender for the free lipstick.

The middle ground:

Imperial Leather Moisturising Coconut & Tiare Flower Shower Cream (£1.00): This is in this section because of its packaging. Being priced at £1 the company had to cut corners somewhere and it seems the packaging was it. The cap broke and refused to shut properly. The product itself though smelt amazing and left the scent on my skin for quite a while. If it wasn’t for the packaging I would repurchase the product.

Clinique Clarifying lotion 2 100ml (£10.00): I love this product because it leaves my skin feeling very cleansed and it just completes cleaning the skin after using a cleanser. The reason it is in this section is because of the incredible strong scent. I just cannot get passed the smell of alcohol. So if you are sensitive to scents and or alcohol this really isn’t the product for you. However, as I liked the product so much I am thinking about purchasing the number 1 version instead.

Quick Fix Facials Mega Moisture Gel Mask (£4.99): I am constantly on the look out for affordable masks at the drugstore, so when I saw this pink bottle with dry and thirsty skin written on it in big letters I immediately checked it out. For the price I wasn’t expecting much but I noticed very little change in my skin after removing the mask. Even with continued use I didn’t feel like my skin got a lot of hydration from it. The deal breaker for me though was the scent. It smells like off strawberry yogurt. I’m definitely gonna give this product a miss in the future.

AVON Care Royal Jelly Lip Treatment (£1.10): I was glad to be done with this product as it really didn’t do much for me as a lip treatment. I bought this after I discovered the Royal Jelly hand cream which I love to use in the winter. However, this has such an awful sticky jelly texture and doesn’t keep my lips very hydrated. Sad to say this was a bust.

So that is the end of my July empties 2016. Which brings the total number of items to: 93. The total money value to: £452.17!!

High end makeup wishlist #1

Hey guys,

This post is going to be about the highend makeup products that I really want right now. Of course with my makeup obsession, this is only a few products on my wishlist. These are just the items that I have been dying to get my hands on recently.

Too Faced Born this way concealer (not yet available in the UK) – After hearing people such as NikkieTutorials and Jeffree Star talk about this product so highly, I instantly became interested in it. Every store I have been to that has Too Faced in it doesn’t have the concealers yet, so I don’t know if they even have the right shade for me. However, with the claims that people are making about this product I will definitely not give up my search just yet.

MAC powder blush in Blushbaby (£15.00) – Although I have purchased MAC blushes in the past, I recently purchased the 6 blush pan insert for a MAC palette and the shade Margin. Which is a perfect summer shade for my skin tone. However, I still have five more spaces in that palette and Blushbaby was the next shade on my list. It is the perfect shade for everyday wear and it goes with every makeup look. What is your favourite MAC blush shade?

Too Faced Melted liquified lipstick in Melted Chihuahua and Melted Sugar (£19.00 each) – I already own one of these lipsticks in the shade Melted Nude. However, that shade is a warmer toned brown that I find difficult to wear very often. These two shades are exactly the type of colours I wear all the time. Since swatching them in Debenhams and knowing that I already love the packaging and formula, I’m really looking forward to adding these shades to my collection.

Cover FX custom enhancer drops (£34.00) – When these came out, it was all over my YouTube recommended list for weeks. After viewing all the swatches I am sad to say there are four shades I really want. Celestial, Moonlight, Sunlight and Sunkissed. I am hoping that I can narrow it down to about two shades by swatching them in store, given how high the price tag is.

Marc Jacobs Re(Marc)Able Full Cover Foundation Concentrate (£37.00) – This foundation is supposed to be one of the most luxurious and full coverage foundations on the market. With a shade available that even a girl as pale as me can wear and glowing reviews from many YouTubers, of course this had to be on my list.

So…What is on your wishlist??

April empties part 2 (12)

Hey everyone, if you haven’t viewed part 1 of this months empties then go ahead and it view it. This part is focused on make up, hair care and skin care.

Superdrug 100 round pads (£1.00), L’oreal Preference hair dye in natural dark brown (£6.99) and L’oreal Preference high shine conditioner (comes with hair dye): I am mentioning all three of these in one because they have all been in past blog posts a lot, so I will not be reviewing them again.

NYC smooth skin bronzer in Sunny (£3.99). This was the final item in my project pan! In the photo you can see the small bit of pan. It had to go it was so old and orange on my fair skin so you can probably guess my opinion on repurchasing. However, this is a cult favourite for many so it really depends on your skin tone and undertone.

Makeup Revolution pressed powder in translucent (£2.00).  I had high hopes for this after I purchased their blush palette but I guess you get what you pay for. All the writing on the packaging rubbed off within weeks, it contains one of those cheap foam round sponges that I hate and the product itself made my skin look super powdery and I needed to touch up after 2 hours. The only good thing I have to say about it is that I like the concept of the mirror on the bottom.

AVON Planet Spa Perfectly Purifying face mask (£3.00). This mask did absorb all the oil on my face but it didn’t get the dirt out of my pores as I wanted it to. So I want to try a mask that gets rid of dirt in pores and blackheads, anyone got any recommendations???

YESto grapefruit facial wipes (£3.99). I love the scent of these wipes and it takes my make up off really well but I just can’t buy them again. I had the exact same problem as the cucumber ones, they burnt my eyes. So far I have only been okay with the carrot ones. I don’t know if I should bother trying the coconut ones, what do you think??

AVON Luxe lip gloss in elegant gold (£4.50). The reason that this is in my empties post is because it has very obviously expired (smells like glue) and is in my project pan lips edition. I never used this because it had big chunks of glitter in it and was a clear gloss. It is currently being discontinued by AVON and I can’t say I will miss it.

MAC Dazzleglass in Sugarrimmed (£17.50). Back when I purchased this I mentioned on Instagram that the formula of this wasn’t very sticky…scratch what I said…its super sticky. As the product has gotten older it has gotten sticker and sticker. As the product begins to fade off your lips the glitter clumps together. Since this one was made in 2013 it has long ago expired. I won’t purchase any dazzleglass ever again.

Una Brennan Super Facialist micellar water 200ml (£6.99). I saw Alessandra Steinherr talk about this on Snapchat and instantly wanted to try it out. This product is really good for removing my face make up but I have the same issues as the Yesto wipes with it. I can’t use it on my eye area as it is too sensitive for it. So unfortunately I won’t repurchase.

Smashbox photo finish oil free primer sample (£5.00). This is a nice primer I just don’t believe it is the right one for me. I am desperate to try out the pore minimising one thought.

Indeed labs Hydraluron moisture jelly (£24.99). This product is talked about so much on Instagram and YouTube. Although I really don’t know why. This did improve my skin a little whilst I was using. However, not enough for the price tag. Maybe the results would of been different with the serum version I don’t know. Do you guys prefer that one??

That is the last post on empties this month, making a total of 22 items! Please let me know what kind of posts you want to see in the future.

March empties (12)

IMG_2713 (1)

This month I managed to finish 12 items and make a lot of progress on other items. I have already finished another 2 items so far this month. I have a feeling that April is going to be a really good month for empties 🙂

Something I would like to mention about all of the products put in my empties posts is that unless otherwise mentioned I scrape every last bit of product out I can of every product. I spend a lot of money on new products to review but I don’t hoard make up or waste it either. Also, every lip product that is mentioned I use every bit of it right down into the plastic inside. Once it reaches the plastic bit I usually depot it into a plastic pot and use a lip brush.

Avon Care cocoa butter hand cream: This was a really big tube of hand cream for me to finish. Especially since I now know I don’t like the scent of cocoa butter. With this said it was really moisturising, so I am going to try out other Avon hand creams.

O.P.I Nail Envy nail strengthener 3.75ml:  I love this nail strengthener so much. My nails do not break once I have applied this and they grow so long. I had half of this bottle left but sadly due to age it became solid and could no longer be used. I will definitely repurchase the full size though.

Sure women Maximum Protection deodorant: When I purchased this it was so expensive for a deodorant and to my shock it didn’t work for me at all. Stupidly I still used the whole item since it was pricey. It just made you smell like a mixture of sweat and berries. I definitely will not be repurchasing.

No7 Quick thinking wipes: This product was in my January empties post but this isn’t the second pack I have gotten through. I have used up at least three packs of these bad boys since I discovered them late last year. I wouldn’t say they are my holy grail make up wipes but I do really like them.

Superdrug cotton wool 100 round pads: Not very exciting and I finished a pack of these before as shown in my last month’s empties post.

Maybelline Babylips in intense care: This is my second finished Babylips of the year, first one was shown in my January empties post, and this one has definitely been my favourite. It is really hydrating and doesn’t really have a scent which was my issue with the last one. I would repurchase but I have so many other lip balms that there is no point.

L’oreal Preference high shine conditioner: Again I am sure I have mentioned this product before on my blog. I love this conditioner a lot, it keeps my hair and colour in good condition and leaves my hair feeling so soft.

Benefit they’re real! push-up liner sample size: This came in the real cheeky party palette and I was really excited to try out this product because I have such difficulty applying eye liner. However, I really disliked this product and I would never pay the £18.50 price tag for it. The product itself came out in clumps on my eyelid, and yes before you guys say it I did the test on the back of my hand thing before applying each time. It flaked off through out the day and yet was impossible to get off. I couldn’t find any benefits to this product.

MAC select cover up in NW15: This was the first product I had ever bought at MAC and my first piece of highend make up ever. This was also a product in my main project pan. I used to use this underneath my eye area because I found it wasn’t full enough coverage for blemishes. However, I found that even for my under eye area it wasn’t the coverage that I wanted so I won’t be repurchasing.

Avon perfectly matte lipstick sample in posh petal: I got this sample from Avon’s newest lipstick range that claims to be more matte than MAC. The formula was very creamy and stayed on a long time, even through drinking. For the price, I say that these lipsticks are really good. Unfortunately, the colour was just too light pink for me and I haven’t been able to find another colour in the range that suits me. Also, since I love MAC matte lipsticks, I can say that they aren’t more matte than MAC. Sorry Avon but its the truth MAC matte lipsticks have a more matte finish. This being said if you don’t like the MAC ones because they are too drying for you, I recommend you try the AVON ones because they don’t dry out your lips.

Listerine cavity guard mouthwash 500ml: I really liked this mouthwash as I believe that it does what it says on the bottle. I have lots of problems with my current fillings and this mouthwash has so far kept them for eroding and being sensitive. I will definitely repurchase this.

Listerine stay white mouthwash 95ml: I saved the worst till last. I bought this because I get natural staining on my teeth and I needed a travel size for my Valentines day stay in London. Thinking this would be great because of the product mentioned above, I tried it. The picture below shows the point at which I had to stop and pour it down the drain. This burnt my gums and hurt my mouth every time I used it. I couldn’t use it for the length of time needed to clean my teeth with it. I was horrified by this product and I will never go near it again.

How to project pan

Some of the most liked photos on my Instagram are those including my project pan items and empties. So today I will be teaching you my tips for a successful project pan.

Project panning is a way to use up selected makeup items and declutter your makeup collection. Giving you a more space to try new items and helping you realise which products you like the most. It also encourages you to use more of your makeup items up completely.

First Stage: Throw out or giveaway

Now this isn’t actually a stage of project panning but it will help you clear out unnecessary items in your makeup collection. Go through your makeup collection and pick out all the products that are completely the wrong shade for you, items you never use because you really dislike them and the products that are incredibly old and out of date. Then, either throw them away or give them to a friend or family member.

Second Stage: Choose your project pan items

Now these items will preferably be products that you won’t repurchase, items that are on the older side or products that you have more than one of. This way, when the items are used up, it will provide you with more space and leave you with products that you all love.

To help keep you motivated, write a list of these products and tick them off when they are used up or join Instagram and post your progress. I have been so surprised at how much project panners motivate and support each other.

Third Stage- Reward yourself

This stage is also optional. Decide on a reward such as a new lipstick or an eye shadow palette you have really been wanting, which you can go out and buy once you have used up your project pan items. This will more likely keep you on track and motivate you to use the items up due to their being a reward at the end.

For example, when I have finished my #100daysofempties and at least one more of my project pan items (I have completed 5/10 so far), then I will make my first ever Sephora online order.

Proof it works:

I bought two products from this collection off of the Debenhams website. This is the powder blush in Crisp Whites and the lipstick in Crème d’Nude.

This collection has beautiful summer packaging. Although, other than the blue-orange-yellow ombre  packaging it is no different from the original packaging.

The lipstick in Crème d’Nude is a light pinky nude colour with a cremesheen finish. This is a permanent shade of lipstick. I was going to purchase this lipstick at some point anyway so the packaging was a bonus.

The powder blush in Crisp Whites is a pale tangerine shade with a satin finish. This colour is limited edition. It is beautiful on pale and medium skin tones as it warms up your cheeks.

The lipstick is £17 and the powder blush is £20. To be honest you can get the lipstick in the regular packaging for £15.50 and it is just as good. The blush though is great so if you like the look of it buy it now before it sells out.
