Decluttering by brand #3:

Hey everyone,

The day has finally come. This is the last declutter post for 2017. It has been a long time coming but I finally completed this post. I am sorry about the wait but it took quite a while to find all the pictures for the remaining items. In terms of my November and December empties this will be up in the next couple of days as the last post related to 2017.

Colourpop ultra matte lip mini in ‘clueless’ and ‘tulle’ (Both FREE): These were both expired and I will not purchase the full size of either as ‘clueless’ was too pink for me and ‘tulle’ was an unflattering brown shade on my skin tone.

Colourpop ultra matte lip mini in ‘honey pie’ (FREE): I will never have an opportunity to wear this bright red. This was part of a minis set for Valentines day 2017 and I can see a lot of people enjoying this, it is just whether you wear this sort of shade or not.

Colourpop ultra satin lip in ‘Baracuda’ (£4.57): As with most decluttered items this just didn’t work for me. The shade itself just makes me look super ghostly.

Colourpop x Hello Kitty lippie stix in ‘konichiwa’ (£3.89): Too pink. That is my only issue with this product. As Colourpop is only online for those of us in the UK you have to go with swatches and other sources to decide on which colours to buy. Unfortunately this one just didn’t work out for me.

Makeup Revolution liquid lipstick in ‘we rule’ (£4.00): This is a very similar shade to the Kylie Cosmetics metal liquid lipstick in ‘heir’ except I prefer that shade and formula. As I don’t get to wear metallics often, I kept the Kylie one and decluttered the Makeup Revolution one.

Gerard Cosmetics supreme lip creme in ‘wild berry tart’ (£12.00): I like the shade but the smell is too strong and its a bit too sticky for me. Although, wild berry tart is a good shade name for this because the scent itself smells like very sweet berries. Again I feel it is entirely down to preferences with lip products as to whether you will like this or not.

Anastasia Beverly Hills lip gloss in ‘dainty’ (£16.00): The bright peach shade and the fact it looks super streaky on the lips are the reasons that this one had to go. I love the Anastasia gloss formula but this shade was a dud for me.

Sleek highlighting palette in ‘Cleopatra’s kiss’ (£9.99): The two powder highlighters in this palette are far too glittery for my taste and the only one of the creams I could wear was the light yellow shade. As I prefer by far the Sleek Solstice highlighter palette, I will be passing this one on.

Benefit Cosmetics Benetint (£25.50): When I first got this I was obsessed, this is such a well known product in the beauty community as it is. This can be used on your cheeks and lips, creating a natural flushed effect. I passed this on as I just found myself not reaching for it anymore. I think if you are really into natural makeup and liquid cheek products you should get a sample to try though, as it is a good product.

Maybelline ColorElixir in ‘720 Nude Illusion’ (£6.99): This has expired so it has been thrown out. This was a nice slightly on the warmer side shade of nude gloss, but I wouldn’t repurchase as I have so many others I prefer.

Gerard Cosmetics lipstick in ‘Vintage Rose’ (£11.00): This particular shade had a very dry formula which when applied drags across your lips. As well as this unpleasant factor the shade didn’t suit me, so I found no reason to keep this in my collection.

Too Faced Glimmer dust in ‘Glitterally’ (FREE): I just don’t use loose glitters. Too much mess, especially since this doesn’t even have a sifter.

Anastasia Beverly Hills dipbrow pomade in dark brown (£15.00): In case you couldn’t tell, this has completely dried out. It is too dark for my brows now anyway, so when I repurchase I think I will choose the shade medium brown instead.

NYX Jumbo eye pencil in 611 yogurt (£5.50): I think by now most of you will realise from the theme of products I have been decluttering, that I just don’t use eye crayons.

NYX Vivid Brights eyeliner in vivid violet (£5.50): I like this for regular liner but it does flake off if you use it for a wing. With this limitation and the fact that I have limited opportunities to wear purple liner, I decided to declutter this.

NYX Intense butter gloss in cookie butter (£6.00): I really like the formula of the intense butter glosses but this was such a strange shade. Cookie butter is a light nude with a weird tone to it (I want to say almost yellowish). I just don’t think it looks good at all.

NYX colour correcting powder in banana (£9.00): Far too dark for my skin tone, making it impossible for me to use.

NYX single shadow in happy hour (£4.50): I have so many of this kind of shade in palettes that I just don’t go searching through my collection for this shade in single shadow form.

NYX Tame and Frame tinted brow pomade in brunette (£6.00): This had dried out completely but I have since repurchased it. (For those of you wondering I have picked up Inglot duraline since throwing out my two dried up brow pomades so this doesn’t happen again.)

KIKO wet and dry eyeshadow in 204 (£7.10): I could only get this shade to suit me on the outer corner and it was difficult to get it to blend smoothly when applied there. I love the shade 200 but this one I just couldn’t get to work for me. It would probably work well as an all over lid shade for a purple smokey eye but I don’t get a chance to wear that sort of look often, so I passed this on.

KIKO 3D hydra lip gloss in 22 (£7.90): I have so many lip products and I tend to wear more matte formulas anyway. Overall I just have so many other formulas of lip gloss that I prefer over this one, and this is difficult to store as well as it is in such bulky packaging.

KIKO infinity eyeshadow in 215 (£1.00): I get that this is cheap but the packaging makes this so difficult to use. It is a brown shade with golden subtle sparkle, which I found sometimes showed up and others you wouldn’t think it was anything other than a matte brown.

KIKO make your own palette (£5.00) and KIKO single shadow in 59 (£2.50): I don’t think I am going to purchase more of the KIKO eyeshadows so I passed on the palette with the single shadow in it. The navy shade is nice but I just don’t use it as I rarely ever have the opportunity to wear colourful makeup and when I do I normally reach for purples or warm toned more bold shades.

Annoyingly I have searched extensively and cannot locate the remaining pictures for the following products. Therefore these will just have to be listed.

  • Colourpop lippie stix in Goldie, hotline, upside down and ziggie (£3.89 each): These were shades, well three of them, were the sort that my best friend would love so I already passed those onto her. The shade upside down is a light peach that I got in a kit and it just doesn’t suit me or anyone I know so it unfortunately had to be trashed.
  • NARS blush in miss liberty (£23.00): This product is labelled as a blush but it is actually a highlighter. The reason I decluttered this is because it is quite old and I don’t use highlighters that are super glittery, which this one is pure glitter. I did enjoy using this as an eyeshadow but with the amount of products I own I couldn’t justify not giving it to someone else to try out instead.
  • L’Oreal Color Riche lipstick in 214 violet saturne (£6.99): It was just an okay product. I didn’t like the scent of the lipstick and the colour was just something I would only wear occasionally. Therefore with my large collection of lip products, I didn’t need to keep this one.
  • Coty Airspun loose face powder in translucent (£14.99): OLD LADY PERFUME. Easiest way to describe the scent of this. It is so overwhelming that your face smells of it all day. I really do like the powder itself but you can’t get the unscented version in the UK. The packaging also broke on mine which made it very messy. I believe that this is a good product and I see why so many others love it, but I can’t ignore my nose anymore.
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel (£16.50): This one was almost dried out so I tossed it. I love this brow gel and have minis of it that I kept.
  • Colourpop mini ultra matte lip in ‘more better’ (£2.34): I passed this on as it is too bold for me to wear other than once a year or so.

That is it for this post. I hope you all enjoyed the decluttering posts this year. As mentioned previously anything that hasn’t expired will be passed onto others unless it can’t be for hygiene reasons.

This brings the totals to 284 items and a retail value of £1636.65!

Until the next time,

Decluttering my collection round 2 part 3

Hi everyone,

I have returned! Where from you may ask, well the answer is from under a massive pile of revision relating to my 5th accounting exam. I cannot believe I only have one more exam and then I will be a CFAB qualified accountant! Anyone who has done this knows that these exams take over your life, so that is why I have been MIA for the last month or so.

Well now I have to try and catch up on posts for the decluttering by brand, decluttering round 2, November empties and December empties before the end of 2017… should be interesting. I better get into it then.

The two foundations that I chose to declutter from my collection were the Maybelline Super Stay 24hr fresh look longwear foundation in 03 true ivory (£8.99) and the Urban Decay All Nighter waterproof longwear liquid foundation in 0.5 (£29.00).

The Maybelline foundation just doesn’t work well with my skin. It gets patchy throughout the day and I never consider myself to be having a good makeup day when wearing this. I know that they have changed the packaging and maybe the formula as well, I am not sure on that one, but I don’t really want to try it again.

The Urban Decay foundation oxidises so bad that I appear orange no matter what I do, which you guys probably guessed anyway as countless bloggers have mentioned this product flaw. As this is the lightest shade I can’t just purchase a light one from the range. I enjoyed the coverage it gave and the wear time but I just cannot wear it without looking comical.

Urban Decay The Illuminizer (£24.00) – I wanted to love this so bad but I could never get it to work. The powder swatches an okay colour for me to wear but makes my foundation too dark when applied, it has big bits of shimmer in it randomly and it clings to dry spots. Therefore I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.

Wet N Wild Megaglo contouring palette in Dulce de leche (£9.48) – What drew me to it originally was the shades, as I thought it would work great on my fair skin tone. Whilst the shades are great, it takes a lot of effort to blend the contour shade out as it is quite patchy on application and the highlight shade clings to dry patches under the eyes. Therefore this just doesn’t work for me like I wanted it to.

AVON dual glow cheek colour and highlighter in ‘Just pinched’ (£9.00) – The blush shade was far too dark and pigmented for me to personally wear and whilst the highlight shade was nice, it wasn’t nice enough to justify keeping the duo.

The first two of the three eyeshadow palettes I am decluttering are the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette (£36.00) and the Lorac Pro palette (£11.99). These palettes are both very old and the formula is starting to become difficult to work with, which if any of you own these palettes you know that is unusual. I will not repurchase either of these as I have so many palettes that are similar that I prefer.

The final eyeshadow palette is the Too Faced x NikkieTutorials collaboration (£30.00). This contains 9 shadows, two blushes, a bronzer and a highlighter. The pink and silver shade in the top row are quite chunky but the rest of the shades are really good. However. there are very minimal looks you can pull together from it. The blushes are very pigmented and I don’t really wear bright blush. The highlight is pretty and the bronzer isn’t the right shade for me.

Overall, I don’t get the use out of the palette that I should in order to justify keeping it. I bought it to support Nikkie but there has been a lot of controversy around this collab this year which makes me question whether I actually did or not. Therefore, it has to leave my collection.

IMG_3141

AVON Magix HD finishing powder (£9.00) – I just don’t enjoy white HD powders. They make me seem even paler than usual and appear ashy/ dusty on the skin.

AVON big colour eye pencil in ‘slate’ (£4.00) – This shade in eye crayon form just doesn’t get used by myself. I would like to state that I only own two other eye crayons after all this decluttering so it isn’t a product I own a lot of or use a lot.

Benefit Cosmetics the Porefessional License to blot mini (FREE) – I have dry skin so I don’t need this sort of product. I only had it in my collection as it was free.

KIKO long lasting stick in 05 (£6.90) – The lid for this cracked and the shade meant that I didn’t use it as much as I should of (as with the AVON shadow crayon).

That is it for this post. The totals are 209 items at a retail value of £1,154.38! The next one is going to be a longer post (over 20 items) but it is the only way to get all the items covered in one final post for round 2. Hopefully this should be up in a few days.

Until the next time,

Decluttering my collection round 2 part 2

Hey everyone,

This is part 2 of round 2 of decluttering my makeup collection. The products I decluttered in this post will be offered to friends and family, then if they remain unclaimed they will be tossed.

Highlighters – This was a difficult aspect of my collection to go through but I quickly realised that many were very similar shades. Therefore, I reduced the number I have of shades I use less frequently and kept my preferred formulas.

Sleek Barekissed Illuminator in ‘Monaco’ (£8.99): This is an incredibly similar shade to the Maybelline Master strobing liquid in ‘light/iridescent’, except the Sleek one is slightly more pink and has a thicker formula. As I rarely use pink toned highlighters I decided to only keep one.

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked highlighter in ‘peach lights’ (£3.00): I don’t know why this is named peach lights, since the highlighter is a pink duo-chrome shade. The product has good pigmentation and I would recommend these highlighters to others. However this just isn’t a shade that I wear anymore.

Tarte tarteist pro glow liquid highlighter in ‘exposed’ (£6.50): This is a beautiful gold shade, however when this is blended all the glitter clumps together. Still I will give it to a friend for her to try out, as her skin tone better suits the shade than mine does.

Benefit Watts up highlighter mini (FREE): This is only being decluttered as it is too dark for my skin tone. The shade is beautiful for a natural glow and it blends easily, so I know someone else will enjoy it.

Elf cosmetics highlighter in ‘blush gems’ (£5.00): It is a pretty shade but for my skin tone it would only be good as a blush topper and I don’t want that extra step in my routine.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics skin frost in ‘Siberian Gold’ (£25.00): Not only is this shade, a bronze gold, too dark for me but the formula is not the same as the other shades. It is pressed so tightly that the product won’t blend and if you swatch it with your finger, most will cling to it and then flake off. There was discussion that the first batch was bad but all the same I wouldn’t buy another.

Colourpop pressed powder highlighter in ‘Boy next door’ (£4.56): This is a warm medium gold shade that is just too dark for me. I love the two other shades I own from the range and recommend checking them out.

L.A Girl Strobelite strobing powder in ‘110 watt’ (£5.00): This is pigmented and affordable but the packaging is bulky. It is again the shade, a white with a strong yellow based gold reflect, that is the reason I am decluttering it.

Colourpop super shock shadows (£4.01 each):

Glow – This was in my project pan 2017 but it just clings to dry patches and creases on the lid.

La la – It is a beautiful shade but it just doesn’t suit me. I really struggle to wear coppery and very warm orangey bronze shadows.

Cornelious – This would be a great transition shade but the formula just doesn’t like being blended into the crease. Therefore, I am going to pass it on to a friend who could pull off wearing it all over the lid.

Kaepop collection shade ‘Beverly’ – As the shade is so dark, and because of the formula it made it difficult to blend without giving a black eye effect.

Cricket – This is untouched as I own another one of this shade. As it isn’t a shade I would run out of fast, I don’t need two of them.

Cuddle Buddy – I used to wear pink eyeshadow a lot but I don’t really like to wear the darker pink shimmer shades anymore. This is too bold a pink shimmer for me to pull off.

That is it for this post. The next blog post, coming very soon, is my October empties. Yes I know they are very late this month. The latest totals are 190 items at a retail value of £921.24.

Until the next time,

Decluttering my collection round 2 part 1

Hey everyone,

I decided to make this post rather than another decluttering by brand one, as I am having problems locating the photos for the rest of that series which is frustrating. However I just really wanted to get another post out for you guys.

Every item in this post has either been binned or kept for back to MAC purposes. This is because these products have either expired or it isn’t hygienic to pass on to others.

Lets declutter!

Getting into the products the first item that I decided to throw out is the Too Faced Better than sex waterproof mascara. I purchased this from a Sephora in Rome as I only have one other waterproof mascara. This just did nothing for my lashes. I used it multiple times and the formula is so dry that it just feels like I am using a really old mascara (£9.00)

Secondly, the Smashbox photo finish lash primer (£3.75). This is quite a good product in terms of the length and separation it gives the lashes, but I am decluttering this as it is old and I prefer lash primers that aren’t white.

The final product in the photo below is the Collection lasting perfection concealer in the shade 1 fair. It is great for covering blemishes but not something I would use on the under eye area. This was basically empty so I just decided to declutter it. (£4.19)

The second photo shows all the lip products that I am disposing of. The MAC Toledo Collection lipglass in Oxblood (£14.00) and the Colourpop ultra matte lip in Times Square (£4.57) are both in my project pan 2017. However, the Colourpop one has to be tossed and the MAC one will be back to MAC’d since these have clearly expired. By that I am referring to the formula and scent changing massively.

The Colourpop ultra matte lip mini in Bianca (FREE) will also be tossed as it has expired as well. Finally, the MAC prolong wear lipstick in Unlimited will be back to MAC’d as I never wear this shade and it is well on its way to expiring. (£16.00)

Below are the two drugstore blushes that I am getting rid of: the honey queen honeycomb blusher by W7 (£5.95) and The Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in ‘Rose Gold lights’ (£3.00). The W7 item is just really old, when swirled together it is a really pretty natural shade that reminds me of Benefits Sugarbomb box blush. The Makeup Revolution product I bought to use as a blush before I realised that, to be honest it looks like a vagina. How did no one at the company realise that? Besides that it is just not the right shade for me.

Mario Badescu enzyme cleansing gel (FREE) – From the times I have used this I have determined that this is clearly for oily skin. Therefore, this doesn’t work with my dry skin.

High lights by Technic is well known for being a budget dupe for the Benefit Cosmetics High Beam. I have owned this for a very long time and I have decided it is time to part ways. Given the applicator as well, I have deemed it no longer sanitary to use. (£2.00)

ELF liquid highlighter in illuminating (£5.00). This has so much oil in it, its so gross. The pigment is almost separated from the oil, no matter how much you shake it and it has no pigment at all. Therefore this is definitely being trashed.

The two blushes that are going back to MAC are a pressed powder one in Well dressed (£15.00) and a mineralized one in Just a Wisp (£21.00). I used the old pricing from when I bought these, yes that is how long ago I bought these. Well dressed is so so old that it needs to go and Just a Wisp is getting quite old and the shade just doesn’t suit me.

The first of the final three products is the NYX Tinted Brow Mascara in Espresso. I really enjoyed this. The shade suits me well, the brush applies the product evenly and its affordable. This is only going because it has dried out. (£6.00)

Secondly is the Kiko SMART Eye pencil in 811 (£1.20). The shade is pretty but it doesn’t glide on easily enough, so you have to keep going back to create a smooth line and this can irritate your lids.

The final item is an Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel mini (FREE). This product has dried out and therefore will be tossed. Although, I have another mini in my collection.

That concludes decluttering my makeup collection round 2 part 1. I hope you all enjoyed it. Please like this post and follow my blog before you leave.

The items in this post bring my empties totals for 2017 to 176 items at a retail value of £839.13! This means that I have done more than last year! I am now super excited to see what the finals totals are for this year.

Until the next time,

Decluttering by brand #2 ~ Kylie Cosmetics, AVON and Soap and Glory

Hey everyone,

This time I am going to be decluttering from my collection of the brands Kylie Cosmetics, AVON and Soap and Glory. I am going to get one of these posts out a week till I run out of brands I own. I decluttered my collection in one go so that is why some things may turn up in empties in the future before they do in these.

Kylie Cosmetics: I knew starting out that this was going to be a brand that I didn’t get rid of a lot from. I really love Kylie’s products, from the shade range to the packaging to the wear time. The only product I am decluttering is the Koko collection matte liquid lipstick in ‘Khol$’. This is a really warm medium nude shade that I just can’t pull off, so this will be going to my best friend since it has only been worn once or twice.

Collection  before decluttering

To use up and not repurchase

To declutter

AVON: This was a more complex brand for me to deal with, mainly because I owned such a wide range of products from them. I chose to declutter 8 items, 1 to use up and not repurchase category and keep 9 items.

I put the matte liquid concealer in the to use up section because it was too drying for my under eyes but I finished it this month so it will now be decluttered. It has a beautiful natural matte finish that if I had oily skin I would probably repurchase this, but unfortunately with my dry skin it doesn’t look that good for long. The Magix powder is only in the to use up category because it is just an okay product, I don’t know if it is because it is a HD powder or what but it isn’t my favourite.

I decluttered the prep + set spray because it was too alcohol smelling and left my skin feeling super tight. The shimmer brick is at least 3 and a half years old and discontinued by the brand. I had a duplicate of the concealer and the used one was getting rather old. The colourtrend lipstick in ‘adorable’ has been discontinued and had a formula I wasn’t impressed with. Finally the shine burst gloss sticks in ‘Nude shine’, ‘Dragon fruit pink’ and ‘Raspberry glaze’ were decluttered as the nude and raspberry shades had glitter in them that made them gritty and the pink shade was just unflattering on me.

The products I decided to keep were a glimmerstick in ‘cosmic brown’, a brow glimmerstick in ‘brunette’, two shine burst lip glosses in ‘Rose splash’ and ‘Berry splash’, two shine burst gloss sticks in ‘Rose’ and ‘Vivid cherry’, a lipstick in ‘Romance’ and a cream concealer. All the products are ones that I really enjoy and will continue to use regularly. My favourite Avon product that I own is probably the shine burst gloss stick in ‘Vivid Cherry’ as it is super hydrating and such as stunning colour, I own nothing else like it and its only £3.50!

Soap and Glory: This was probably the easiest brand for me to do, as I am decluttering both of these products.

The palette only included two shades that could be used for the crease and they were both purples which wouldn’t work for the other neutral shades. Most of the shadows were okay quality but some were gritty with fall out and little pigment. Overall I wasn’t impressed, I hung on to this palette till now for three shades out of the ten only.

The mini gloss in the shade ‘Rose and shine’ is half used up and about 2 and a half years old. I am not a fan of the tingly lip glosses either so this was a simple decision for me.

The figures:

After decluttering a total of 10 items in this post (plus 1 empty that will be included in my June empties total), this brings the total number for my empties to 122 and the retail value to £444.90.

That is it for this second decluttering by brand post, I hope you enjoyed it. Please follow me here on my blog and on Instagram, that is also ‘teenbeautylife’. June empties and declutter by brand #3 should be up around the end of next week.

Until the next time,

Decluttering by brand #1 – Dior, Stila, Body Shop and Technic (UPDATED)

Hey everyone,

After being inspired by Shannox, Amy Macedo and you guys to declutter my entire makeup collection I decided to do these posts by brand to show you what I had before and after.

I own so many brands of makeup that the ones where I am not decluttering anything I will not being doing a post on. Most of those listed below I only own one or two items from or I am really obsessed with the products. These are as listed:

  • Urban Decay
  • Milani
  • RCMA
  • MUA
  • Hourglass
  • Giorgio Armani
  • Becca
  • Jordana
  • Lancome
  • It’s skin
  • Wet N Wild
  • Tarte cosmetics
  • First Aid Beauty
  • Lush
  • Jouer
  • Bourjois
  • Kat Von D
  • Vaseline
  • Buxom
  • Collection
  • Smashbox
  • Eyelure
  • The Balm
  • Revlon
  • Illamasqua
  • W7
  • Violet Voss
  • Viseart
  • Morphe brushes
  • BH cosmetics
  • Elf cosmetics
  • Juvia’s place
  • Pixi
  • Makeup Revolution
  • Charlotte Tilbury
  • Melt Cosmetics
  • DHC

I wasn’t kidding when I said I owned a lot of brands.

The way I am going to declutter the products in each brand is by having three categories for them to go into: keep, using up/need to use and pass on/bin. That is it for the intro to this series, I hope you guys like this idea and lets get into the decluttering!

First brand: Technic ~

I own one product from this brand and I got it off of Amazon for around £3-£4. This is a product called ‘high lights’ and it looks almost identical to the Benefit High Beam, from the packaging to the shade. I would definitely call these dupes. I am putting this in the to use up category. I am about 2/3 of the way through this and I won’t repurchase this. The nail polish vibe from the packaging and the iridescent pink shade isn’t what I really reach for. If I want that sort of shade then there are others in my collection I prefer. However, if you want to buy the Benefit High Beam don’t do it. This is so similar so please save your money and get this instead.

Second brand: Dior ~

The only product I own by Dior is the original lip glow. Since actually doing this declutter I have finished this product up. Therefore, this is an empties and has left my collection. I will not be repurchasing it either because it is super expensive (£25.00). I received this as a gift and personally I just don’t wear those lip balm that change due to your lip PH. I find that the shade of pink it changes to is always very unflattering on me. The lip balm itself was really hydrating and the packaging is stunning. If you enjoy PH responsive lip balms/tinted lip balms then I would investigate this, otherwise don’t pay the money for it.

Third brand: The Body Shop ~

These are the two products I know from the Body Shop: The lightening shade adjusting drops and the spiced apple lip balm.

For me the lightening drops are an essential product, as I am paler than my pillow 90% of the time. It allows me to get the exact shade of foundation I want, which every pale girl knows is the dream. Therefore, this is staying in my collection. The lip balm is good but it isn’t mind blowing so I am putting this in the need to use up category.

Fourth brand: Stila ~

This is my small collection of products by Stila. I own the single eyeshadow in ‘kitten’, the stay all day liquid lipstick in ‘Perla’, ‘Patina’ and ‘Serenata’.

I decided to keep 3 products and the 4th product is in my project pan 2017. My favourite product from Stila has to be the stay all day mini liquid lipstick in ‘Serenata’ it is such a beautiful dark cool toned brown shade, and I can’t wear many dark browns because of how pale I am. I really hope they add it to the permanent line in the future.

The shade ‘Perla’ was removed from my project pan 2017 and will now be removed from my collection. The shade continues to oxidise into a strange shade that is difficult to wear. This decluttered item will be added to my September empties totals.

To start this decluttering process off: Out of the 8 items – I will be keeping 4 items, 3 will made a priority to use up and 1 is being decluttered (I will add this to my June empties total) since it has been used up entirely. The Stila liquid lipstick in ‘Perla’ will be added to my September empties totals.

I know in this post I didn’t declutter that many products but I wanted to give you guys a good example of how I am going to separate things out. There are plenty more brands that I am going to go through such as AVON, MAC, Maybelline and more.

Until the next time,

Lauren x

Decluttering my lipstick samples – Would I purchase the full size?

Hi everyone!

When the Urban Decay Vice lipsticks first launched I got a tonne of free samples to try out. The range has 120 shades in 6 finishes, and I only own the full size of one (the shade ‘714’). These are priced at £15.50 each and are cruelty free.

I want to disclose that unless I say otherwise in the mini reviews, I love the formula of these. The main distinction as to why I won’t purchase the full size of some of these is that some colours just don’t work on certain skin tones. However, I wanted to include swatches of all of them because you might just find your perfect shade.

Swatches and individual reviews:

This shade is called ‘Stark Naked’ and it is a warm nude in a comfort matte formula. I wouldn’t purchase the full size of this one because I don’t suit warm toned nudes at all as I am so pale. If you have more of a medium skin tone, this will definitely look good on you.

This shade is called ‘Rapture’ and it is a mauve pink in a cream formula. This is such a beautiful, classic cult shade. I will definitely purchase the full size of this. The cream formulas just glide on and the pigmentation is gorgeous.

This shade is called ‘Backtalk’ and it is in a comfort matte formula. This shade is similar to Rapture except it is a matte rather than a cream finish and is more of a cool toned purple with less pink in it. However, it is still really wearable and I will be picking up the full size. It seems like it is going to be perfect for the Autumn months.

I will be purchasing the full size of either this or Conspiracy (which is the darker version). This metallized medium brown is a unique lipstick that doesn’t feel gritty. Definitely a recommended shade.

This is ‘Manic’, this one is a cream formula and is more of a slightly reddish brown shade. I adore this, I think that this is so wearable and yet it adds a little something to your look. Will definitely be picking up this shade soon.

This is a bold deep red shade, in a cream formula, called ‘Rock Steady’. Definitely a shade I want to pick up. What’s your favourite type of red to wear?

This is a cream formula in ‘Gash’ and it is a pink based red (it is a bit darker than in the photo). Whilst the name of the shade may be off putting, the colour certainly isn’t. I don’t know whether I will purchase this or not, I don’t have a lot of opportunities to wear red. There are so many available in vice lipstick range that you are guaranteed to find your perfect red.

This is a cream formula named ‘Jilted’, it is a medium pink with a purple edge to it. For me this is a quite bold shade but I enjoyed trying it out. I may pick this up in the future if I want to purchase something a little outside my comfort zone.

This cream lipstick in the shade ‘Firebird’ is a hot pink with a purple reflect to it. I work in an office five days a week and bright pinks don’t really suit me, so I will not be picking this up.

This hot pink with a sheer formula is ‘Sheer Anarchy’. I love the sheer formula, it gives such a beautiful finish to the lips and it looks stunning during the summer. I just won’t be purchasing this because personally again I just won’t wear bright pink colours. If that is a colour that you really enjoy I would try this out, as I imagine that this would look stunning on holiday.

This comfort matte lipstick in ‘Pyscho’ is a beautiful hot pink shade. As with the other pinks, this one just isn’t for me.

This is the other metallized lipstick mentioned earlier. It has the same formula and reflect as Amulet except this is a deeper bronze. Personally I don’t think you need both in your collection, so save your money and choose one as they are extremely similar.

The final one is ‘Blackmail’. This is a comfort matte formula and this is the only one that I don’t like the formula on. It was a little patchy to apply, I don’t know whether that was because I had to apply it with a lip brush. However, even when I rubbed my lips together to blend the product it didn’t sit right. I would never wear this sort of black with a purple tint as it would make me look dead, so obviously its a no from me on purchasing it.

That is it, my full review on the lip samples that I had from the Urban Decay Vice lipstick collection. Overall, I love the vice lipstick range from Urban Decay. There are so many colours and finishes that your perfect shade is guaranteed to be discovered. What’s your favourite shade from the collection?

As I have decluttered all of these samples now these will add to the total number of empties for 2017. Making the total 112 items and £396.67! (no money added as these were free samples).

Until the next time,
